Program Coordinator – Democratic Republic of Congo At Maltese International

In the Province of Ituri, Haut Uélé and Bas Uélé, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the NGO has been providing humanitarian assistance since 2000 where Malteser International is carrying out various projects in the areas of health, water , hygiene and sanitation (WASH), and food safety.

For the management of our program, we are looking for a Program Coordinator for the provinces of Ituri and Haut-Uélé, based in Ariwara or for the province of Kasaï Central, based in Kananga, Democratic Republic of Congo.

As Program Coordinator you have the opportunity to lead through our multicultural team the smooth running of the logistics, administration and implementation of our varied program in the areas of humanitarian aid, transition assistance and development cooperation.

Your responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, implement and control Malteser International projects in the Provinces of Ituri and Haut-Uélé or in the Province of Kasaï Central, ensuring operational, administrative, financial and logistical aspects
  • Ensure operational quality and monitoring of operations as well as the implementation of the program in compliance with the operational strategy
  • Ensure the coordination of Human Resources, concerning the recruitment, supervision and monitoring of employees in order to build and maintain a team dynamic allowing the successful achievement of objectives
  • Guarantee compliance with deadlines and the quality of internal reports and those intended for donors and ensure good exchange with national coordination and the desk at headquarters
  • Develop strategic orientations and propose new operational orientations according to the evolution of the context
  • Participate in humanitarian forums and relevant coordination meetings and represent the organization to external stakeholders, administrative, political and local authorities and civil society

Your profile:

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in a position requiring high versatility in a humanitarian setting in Africa
  • Experience in managing humanitarian and development programs, implementing intervention strategies and managing security
  • Essential experience in personnel management and accounting and budgetary management
  • Knowledge of logistics procedures for purchasing, transport and inventory management
  • Skill in negotiating diplomatically with partners, authorities and institutions
  • A good command of French (oral and written) is essential, knowledge of English is desirable, German can be an asset
