Building on the United Nations development assistance framework, the UNDP supports Tunisia, in the construction of a sustainable democratic system and an inclusive and sustainable growth model, promoting the reduction of inequalities and exclusion.

Under the direct supervision of the Team Leader cluster Inclusive Growth and Human Development, the ( the ) trainee will support the coordination of projects working for Inclusive Growth and Human Development. She or he will analyze the evolutionary trends in the areas of inclusive growth and will participate in monitoring the proper implementation of UNDP programs and projects in connection with these themes, and will help provide support services to the Office in accordance with UNDP procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Team Leader cluster Inclusive Growth and Human Development of the UNDP Tunisia, the incumbent will carry out the following activities :

  •  Support the strategic functions of the cluster in terms of planning, deepening of knowledge, documentary review in connection with the Inclusive Growth and Human Development program and other programs and projects ;
  •  Participate in strengthening the cluster through support for refinement and the possible adjustment of interventions in progress and the identification of potential new areas of intervention ;
  •  Attend an in-depth analysis of the economic situation and the main socio-economic issues in the country and possible development opportunities
  •  Contribute to the improvement of the partnership strategy and the mobilization of resources for the assigned areas ;
  •  Support the sharing of information between the cluster, the various UNDP programs, projects and departments ;
  •  Provide effective support in the preparation and organization of meetings within the framework of the implementation of the Inclusive Growth and Human Development program and other programs and projects ;
  •  Support the preparation and monitoring of quarterly and annual work plans for projects under the cluster Inclusive Growth and Human Development ;

Support the drafting of meeting minutes, thematic coordination groups and monitoring of the implementation of recommendations

Good knowledge of the United Nations system and the United Nations reform processes is seen as an asset.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  •  The Intern must be registered ( e ) at the university ( higher education programs / 2nd university degree ( Master’s degree or equivalent ) in Economics, Social Sciences, International Relations, development management or another similar area ;
  •  Or be registered ( e ) in the last academic year of a first university degree ( license or equivalent ) in the same study categories ;
  •  Or have obtained a university degree ( as defined above ) less than a year before the start of the internship ;

Experience:

  •  Experience in the planning, monitoring and evaluation of development projects and programs would be an asset ;
  •  Experience at national or international level in the field of development management and cooperation would be an asset ;
  •  Experience and skill at work with reference partners such as Civil Society Organizations, Non-Governmental Organizations, government institutions, development partners at the local level, national and regional would be an asset ;
  •  Mastery of the IT tool, especially Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Internet and management system software ;
  •  Master of French and English, written and spoken
