Nursing Assistant At International Medical Corps


JOB SUMMARY

The Nursing Assistant will provide basic care and support to patients under the supervision of nurses or other medical staff in a variety of settings, such as camps, clinics, hospitals or mobile units.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation.

  1. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist patients with daily activities, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, eating and hygiene.
  • Measure and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, CCMU, weight, and respiration.
  • Assist in medical procedures, such as wound care, dressing changes, catheterization, vaccinations, referrals, and specimen collection
  • Report any changes or concerns regarding the patient’s condition or behavior to the nurse or supervisor.
  • Provide emotional and social support to patients and their families.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Follow infection control and safety protocols.
  • Participate in health education and promotion activities
  • Order necessary medical and non-medical items from medical stock under the supervision of the supervisor.
  • Maintain stock of medical and non-medical items.
  • Complete and maintain all medical forms/tools as instructed.
  • Assist in cleaning and disinfecting medical equipment and instruments under the supervision of a supervisor.
  • Adapting to different and difficult working contexts and conditions.

  1. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Hold a BEPC diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of state-approved nursing assistant training program and certification where applicable
  • Have a current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid
  • Have a basic knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
  • Have a compassionate and respectful attitude towards patients and their needs
  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have flexibility and willingness to work in different teams and environments
  • Have cultural sensitivity and knowledge of humanitarian principles and values

  • Ethical Conduct of IMC Staff :
