Purpose of the Position:

Job Title: Liaison & Legal Coordinator

Location: Turkey / Gaziantep (Based in Gaziantep with the possibility to travel )

Department: Administration

Reports To: CEO

Turkish Nationality required

Languages:

English (C1, Level 5, Upper Intermediate)

Turkish (C2, Level 6, Advanced)

Summary:

The Liaison & Legal Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring Bonyan Organization’s legal compliance, effective communication with external stakeholders, and risk management strategies. This position requires a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with a passion for humanitarian work and a commitment to Bonyan’s mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with government agencies (local, provincial, national)
  • Oversee compliance with local regulations, especially those for NGOs
  • Lead preparation and submission of documentation for audits and inspections
  • Secure work permits and other necessary legal approvals
  • Represent Bonyan in official meetings with government and NGO stakeholders
  • Review agreements and MOUs from a legal standpoint
  • Advise on legal compliance for new programs and initiatives, collaborate with legal accountant to facilitate audits
  • Advocate for Bonyan’s mission and secure permits/approvals
  • Research and identify potential government grant opportunities

Risk Management:

-Maintain and update the organization’s risk register

-Develop and implement risk mitigation plans with senior management

-Conduct training sessions on risk management for staff and partners

-Perform internal audits related to risk management policies

Internal Compliance:

-Develop and enforce a comprehensive compliance framework

-Conduct periodic compliance reviews and audits across field offices

-Participate in investigating non-compliance issues

-Establish relationships with legal consultants for compliance support

Coordination & Networking:

-Secure necessary permissions from local authorities and stakeholders

-Facilitate communication between Bonyan departments and external partners

-Coordinate meetings to ensure alignment with organizational goals

-Develop and maintain partnerships to enhance Bonyan’s impact

-Participate in emergency response planning and security management efforts

Training & Capacity Building:

-Provide guidance and training on compliance and legal matters to staff

-Implement capacity-building activities in compliance and risk management

-Ensure new staff receive proper induction regarding compliance and risk management processes

Experience & Skills:

-University degree in relevant field (business administration, HR, public administration) or equivalent experience.

-Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within an NGO or humanitarian organization.

-Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

-Excellent written and spoken English and Turkish.

-Proficient in MS Office Suite and adaptable to new software.

-Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.

-Meticulous attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.

-Passion for humanitarian work and commitment to Bonyan’s mission.

-Collaborative spirit and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
