Position Background:

The World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies, and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. We are currently seeking to fill three intern positions, of which two interns will be a part of the Programme Unit and one intern of the Human Resources Unit, based in Mogadishu, Somalia.

As part of its commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace, WFP has developed a Disability Inclusion Roadmap, which serves as a strategic guide to integrating disability inclusion across all aspects of its work. This roadmap emphasizes WFP’s dedication to creating an enabling environment for persons with disabilities, ensuring accessibility, equal opportunities, and the full participation of individuals with disabilities in all areas of its operations. By implementing this roadmap, WFP aims to strengthen its workforce diversity and leverage the unique perspectives and talents of persons with disabilities to enhance its mission of ending hunger. This internship programme is created in the scope of this road map.

These positions are open to qualified Somali nationals with disability only and are highly encouraged to apply. Female candidates with disability are particularly encouraged to apply.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • You will be assigned to work with specific units within WFP Somalia.
  • Specific ToR will be developed once the candidate is onboarded, but will be specifically focused on either Programme support or Human Resources.

Do you meet the minimum requirements?

Education: The Internship Programme is open to candidates who meet one of the following criteria:

  • Graduated from high school ( High school certificate required).
  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in business administration, Human resource, monitoring and evaluation, communications, finance, economics, Information technology and any other relevant fields.
  • Candidates should be fresh graduates (maximum of 2 years’ time).

Knowledge and Experience

  • No prior experience required.
  • Basic knowledge of computer skills and use of Microsoft office (word, excel, power point).

Language: Intermediate knowledge (level B) in English and fluency in Somali.

Terms and Conditions:

  • Upon receiving proof of certificate or relevant qualifications
  • Interns will receive a monthly stipend from WFP.
  • WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, travel to and from the WFP internship location, necessary visas, and related costs.
