Embark on a transformative journey with Yoga and Sport with Refugees (YSR) through our dynamic internship program. This unique opportunity blends academic learning with hands-on experience in a grassroot organization dedicated to supporting displaced people such as asylum seekers, paperless and refugees. As an intern, you will engage in project-based work and actively participate in our community outreach initiatives, including volunteering in our gyms and organizing fundraising events.

At YSR, interns are vital in influencing the future of our organization. You’ll work closely with other interns, staff, and your assigned coordinator to advance projects and discover possible collaborations across different efforts. We’re looking for individuals who are proactive, energetic, and have solid analytical and time management abilities. It’s important that you’re genuinely motivated to contribute to our mission of empowering people through sports.

Human resources team

Our HR team is a small, dedicated group committed to supporting the growth and well-being of our employees. From recruitment and onboarding to employee relations and development, we work closely with every team member to foster a culture of inclusivity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Position overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated intern to join our HR team. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of human resources, including recruitment, employee training, and organizational development. As an HR Intern, you will work closely with your assigned supervisor and the rest of our team to support and enhance our HR functions. You will contribute to creating a positive and inclusive workplace, while gaining practical skills and insights that will prepare you for a future career in the humanitarian sector.

Key responsibilities

1. Recruitment and staffing:

  • Posting job openings on various job boards and company websites.
  • Reviewing and screening resumes to identify qualified candidates.
  • Scheduling and coordinating interviews between candidates and hiring managers.
  • Assisting in conducting initial video interviews with potential volunteers.

2. Onboarding:

  • Assisting in the preparation of onboarding materials for new members.
  • Introducing new employees to YSR policies, procedures, and culture.

3. Employee records management:

  • Maintaining and updating employee records and databases with accurate information.
  • Organizing and filing confidential documents.
  • Assisting in ensuring compliance with data protection and privacy regulations.

4. Training and development:

  • Coordinating training sessions and workshops for employees.
  • Collecting and analyzing feedback from training programs to assess effectiveness.

5. HR Policy development and compliance:

  • Assisting in reviewing and updating HR policies and procedures.

6. Administrative support:

  • Preparing HR-related reports and presentations.
  • Μaintenance and updating of the organization’s records.

7. Project assistance:

  • Participating in various HR projects and initiatives aimed at improving departmental efficiency.
  • Conducting research and providing recommendations on HR best practices.

8. Data Analysis and reporting:

  • Collecting and analyzing HR metrics in collaboration with the MEAL department such as turnover rates, recruitment efficiency, and employee satisfaction.

What we’re looking for:

  • Minimum age of 21
  • Commitment of at least 6 months
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Independence and previous NGO experience preferred
  • Passion for event organisation
  • Passion for Sport and human rights
  • Experience in administrative tasks
  • Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a multicultural working environment
  • Computer skills and Google tools skills

Additional Notes:

We currently offer 1 internship position in Athens.

The internship can start preferably from October 2024 and will last at least 3 months.
