ABOUT BSF :
Created in 2007 by’historian Patrick Weil, the’ Association Libraries Without Borders (BSF) strengthens the power of’ vulnerable populations by facilitating access to’information,’education and culture. In France and in 25 countries, BSF allows people affected by crises and precariousness to learn, entertain and (re)build their future. Its flagship tool is the’Ideas Box, a mobile and innovative media library that allows to create, in the most difficult contexts, a complete educational and cultural center. The 170 Ideas Boxes of BSF receive more than one million visits per year. The’association employs today about a hundred people at the headquarters, in Montreuil (93), and about fifty on its various fields of intervention throughout the world.
At BSF, recruitment decisions are made on the basis of the skills and qualities of the candidates with regard to the needs of the’association, as part of a respectful and inclusive process. CONTEXT :
On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of this tool, BSF wishes to carry out a’ impact study on Ideas Boxes in order to collect information on these effects, and’ inform current and future strategies.
DESCRIPTION OF L’OUTOL :
Designed by Libraries Without Borders in collaboration with designer Philippe Starck and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), l’Ideas Box is a media library kit deployable quickly on all terrains. It is a great tool to bring educational and cultural, fun and educational content, where libraries are not. L’Ideas Box is a mobile media library, in kit, which S’opens in less than twenty minutes to create a cultural space of 100m2. Equipped with’an internet connection,’about twenty’ computers and touch tablets, e-books and paper and’a cinema, it is a great toolbox in which children and adults come to draw to build their future.
Designed by Philippe Starck, it was originally designed to reconnect families and strengthen’education in emergency and post-conflict situations. Today,’ is also deployed in priority neighbourhoods and rural territories in Europe, the United States and Australia.
POSITIONING IN THE’ORGANIGRAMME :
The/The trainee is attached to the Department of’Education, Research and’Impact. He/She and is placed under the supervision of the HEAD of MEAL, and is led to interact with the other operational teams and support of BSF.
MISSIONS :
The main goal of the internship will be to contribute to the realization of the’impact study for the 10 years of the Ideas Box. More precisely, it is’agira d’ to provide support on the following elements :
- Preparation of the’study: coordination with internal teams, identification of interlocutors, organization of interviews, updating the list of IDBs deployed, etc.) ;
- Documentary review ;
- Development of data collection tools (online questionnaire, semi-structured interviews) ;
- Analysis of the data collected ;
- Drafting deliverables
PROFILE :
- Mastery of French,’english are mandatory, spanish is a plus
- Level Licence or Master
- You are very at’ with digital tools (suite Microsoft Office) ;
- You have an interest in research (data collection and analysis) and the measurement of’impact ;
- You are creative.ve and curious.se, especially concerning the’use of’digital tools ;
- You are autonomous, rigorous.se and attentive to detail ;
- You know how to adapt, you are a force of proposal and enjoy working in a team ;
- You are sensitive to the issues of’access to’education and’information, and more generally to the values carried by BSF.
- Familiarization with project management
CONDITIONS OF RECRUITMENT :
- Type of contract : Internship of’a duration of 3 to 6 months ;
