We bring together 188 national human rights associations active in 116 countries. For us, the transformation of societies is first and foremost the responsibility of local actors. Our activities aim to strengthen their capacity for action and their influence.
The International Secretariat which deploys the daily missions of the FIDH is made up of an international team of 70 employees based at the headquarters in Paris and in other offices (Belgium, Switzerland, Netherlands, Thailand, Colombia, African continent ), as well as consultants working occasionally on different programs. It is structured into an Operations and Programs Department and an Advocacy Department as well as Support Departments (Communication, Finance, Fundraising, Human Resources, etc.).
We are recruiting a: INTERN AT THE DEFENSEUR OFFICE – 6 MONTHS
The intern will participate in the development activities of the Defenders Office and will provide support to the numerous projects in progress. Within a department made up of 5 employees / consultants, he/she will be particularly associated with the following activities:
- Participation in public mobilization, urgent alert and advocacy activities on the situation of human rights defenders in danger around the world (press releases, letters to authorities, declarations, urgent appeals): research, verification of information , writing (in French, English or Spanish) and validation process.
- Participation in communication actions of the Defenders Office: publication of alerts on Twitter, the websites of FIDH and the Observatory for the protection of human rights defenders, and the Observatory’s mailing lists, campaigns communication on defenders, others.
- Participation in the development of an annual mapping project on the situation of human rights defenders in the world.
- Participation in the provision of emergency grants to human rights defenders at risk or protection capacity building grants for local human rights organizations.
- Participation in the organization of workshops, seminars, webinars or training.
- Depending on needs and current events, the intern may participate in other files and provide support for other activities.
Profile of the intern:
- Currently in higher education Bac +4/5 in international law, human rights, international relations, political science
- Good knowledge of international human rights law.
- Good writing skills in French (level C1), English (level C1), Spanish (level B2 minimum), mastery of another language is an asset.
- Rigor and attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt, particularly to work with the Libre Office environment.
- In total agreement with the work values of the International Secretariat of the FIDH (professionalism, respect, commitment, equality, integrity, participation, audacity), as well as with the fights carried out by the FIDH for the defense of the human rights of all , throughout the world, explained in particular in its statutes and through its publications accessible from its website: www.fidh.org .
Conditions :
- Full-time internship (39 hours per week) from May 2, 2024 to October 31, 2024 (6 months).
- Mandatory condition: have an internship agreement issued by a French educational establishment.
- Monthly bonus of €659.76 (i.e. €4.35 per hour). Dematerialized restaurant voucher card with a face value of €9, 60% covered by the FIDH. Sustainable mobility package for home-work travel
- 12 days of RTT over the period and acquisition of 2 days of paid leave per month
- The internship will take place at the FIDH headquarters in Paris and partly through teleworking.
Internship to be filled: From May 2, 2024 to October 31, 2024 inclusive
