Appointments made under a technical cooperation contract do not confer career expectations in the ILO, an automatic renewal of the contract, nor the conversion of this with a view to contracting of different kinds in the Organization. In addition, the extension of technical cooperation contracts is subordinated to several conditions including: the availability of funds and the continued need for the functions performed, in addition to satisfactory performance and conduct.

Introduction

The purpose of this contract is to support the end user in an efficient, effective and customer-oriented manner. The work will include providing end-user assistance, providing support and maintenance related to office equipment, organizing and maintaining data for shared units, the implementation of computer programs and the control and support of local networks ( LAN ). The incumbent will perform day-to-day tasks in a fully operational manner and will identify and resolve various recurring computing problems that require the correct application of policies, rules, regulations, ICT-related procedures and guidelines.

The owner will work with a relative level of autonomy. The incumbent will perform the required IT activities and tasks to support the Colombian project office, where you must support all the functions and compliance with the IT regulations for the optimal operation of the hardware and software that is handled in the office. You should keep staff up-to-date and informed about ILO ICT regulations.

Description of tasks

Under the supervision of the Senior Assistant in Administration and Finance of the ILO Colombia office, in coordination and with computer technical support from the Regional Officer in Information Technology, The technology assistant will carry out the following activities: 1. Perform various computer support functions related to the implementation of computer programs and equipment, object management in the Active Directory ( AD ), support for local networks ( LAN ) and support for the end user, ensuring that applicable standards are met. Receive and timely resolve any requirement from users of the ILO Colombia network for computer assistance ( this includes diagnosing and solving problems, hardware, software or operating systems ) both in person and by phone, chat,email and other forms of communication.

2. Follow the escalation procedures established by INFOTEC and the Regional Office for problem solving, stay informed about policies, rules, regulations, procedures, standard ICT guidelines and processes defined by the IT and ITCOM regional unit and keep staff informed of the latest computer threats, provide guidance, emphasizing the need to abide by ICT standards and perform updates to anti-virus signatures and patches on a regular basis on all computer equipment. Participate in meetings and workshops related to ICT.

3. Solve problems related to desktop devices and standard applications ( on site and with telecare technologies ) respecting established hierarchical levels. Provide basic assistance and training to end users on how to solve common computer problems, and contribute to the preparation of guidance documents, as necessary. Provide preventive and corrective maintenance of desk stations, laptops, network devices, printing and storage.

4. Based on the information provided by Human Resources and / or the personnel responsible for the office, manage ( create, update and close ) user accounts in accordance with the contractual situation of the staff member. Store and update user information in the AD and verify its accuracy regularly. Examine and clean the AD to remove unnecessary items and ensure license compliance.

5. Install, replace, and maintain computer hardware and software, including desktops, laptops, printers, phones, and WiFi access points. Install the latest image on official ILO PCs and ensure they have official antivirus software installed. Clean personal computers ( PC ) from viruses and spyware, following instructions from headquarters. Update the inventory of computer equipment in accordance with the recommendations of the headquarters. Implement and configure mobile phones and official tablets. Configure PCs to run the institutional resource planning system and other operational applications.

6. Grant access rights to filing systems and applications through groups based on established conventions and denomination standards. Clean file systems. Inform staff members of the maximum storage capacity of email accounts and the file system and help them respect these limits. Help users delete files with unnecessary personal data and duplicate data. Back up data stored on non-centralized infrastructure in accordance with applicable regulations.

7. Generate records on the Information Technology Services Portal describing technical issues that cannot be solved locally and – scale them to the IT senior assistant/IT officer in the LIMA office.

8. Provide other computer support services, such as the installation of videoconferencing equipment and the logistical organization necessary for the installation of meeting support computer equipment.

Education

Minimum: Complete secondary studies.

Experience

Minimum: Five years in computer applications and programming, proven experience in team configuration and expert management of Windows software packages.

Advantage: Work experience in the United Nations System

Technical studies in information technology .

Languages

Minimum: Perfect command of the Spanish language and basic knowledge of the English language.

Technical competences

Knowledge of the principles and practices related to ICT security.

Knowledge of operating systems, business applications, networks and ITIL processes.

Excellent knowledge of Microsoft software ( in particular, word processing, spreadsheets and presentation creation ), among others.
