Context of’organisation

Founded in 2011, International NGO Safety Organisation (INSO) is an international non-governmental organisation that supports humanitarian actors in safety by establishing platforms for safety coordination in risk contexts.

INSO provides registered NGOs with a range of free services to its partners, including real-time incident tracking, analytical reporting, security-related data and mapping, support in crisis management, staff guidance and training.

INSO provides daily support to more than 1,200 NGOs in 17 of the most insecure countries in the world.

INSO is registered in the Netherlands with its headquarters in The Hague, the international city of peace and justice.

INSO Mission in DR Congo

INSO began operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2012, initially covering the provinces of North Kivu (Goma) and South Kivu (Bukavu). Our’ intervention zone is then extended to’Ituri (Bunia) in 2017, Tanganyika (Kalemie) in 2018 and Mai-Ndombe in 2024. We now provide our services to around 150 Congolese and international NGOs. Overview of the position :

The’Information Manager position offers a unique opportunity to work with a dynamic team, to offer NGOs contextual advice and analysis including cartographic products, in a global effort to promote humanitarian access’.

The main goal of the position is to manage the’Information team, to ensure the development of quality data visualization products, including, as well as the management of the INSO database (CHDC) and the’ registration process of partners. L’Information Manager will also have to develop a strategy to strengthen the control procedures and collection of’INSO DRC open source information.

Main Responsibilities

a. Management & coordination

  • Manage a team (GIS /Information), collaborate with program teams (Safety Advisors, Training) and support (operations, finance)
  • Support and strengthen the capabilities of your team
  • Ensure compliance with deadlines, quality /conformity of productions
  • Regularly manage and update SharePoint folders with relevant materials
  • Train any INSO staff with responsibilities for data entry at the’ operation of the CHDC

b. Management of the Conflict & Humanitarian Data Centre (CHDC)

  • Be the focal point of the CHDC and understand the methodology with a thorough knowledge of the platform
  • Ensure that the CHDC is properly informed
  • Assist in understanding and’ internal and external exploitation of the CHDC

c. Registration on the’INSO Partner Portal (IPP)

  • Be the focal point of the’IPP and understand the’registration process.
  • Guide partners throughout the’ registration process and provide solutions to questions about the system.
  • Monitor and update the’registration of INSO partners.

d. Visualization

  • Respond to needs in collaboration with Programs and Operations teams
  • Aggregate data for analysis and presentation
  • If necessary, produce maps, charts and other high-quality’ products to support’INSO analysis and facilitate NGO understanding of the conflict
  • To provide relevant visual inputs to field missions, intended to collect data for INSO outputs

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, data management,’information systems, GIS or other relevant field
  • Professional competence in french and english (written and spoken)
  • 5 Years or more of’ experience in data management and visualization, in a similar humanitarian organization and context
  • Microsoft Sway, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign
  • Experience with Power BI and DAX, or similar BI software (such as Tableau)
  • Knowledge of database management using SQL
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or R
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant theories, concepts and approaches for GIS and’information management in crisis contexts
  • ’team management

Desirable characteristics

  • Experience in political and/or security mapping
  • Knowledge of the DRC and Central Africa context

Terms & conditions

Contract of 12 months. Monthly salary of €5000 per month, 4 calendar days of annual leave per month worked, 7 days of R&R every 2 months with an allowance of €1250, accommodation, living room, comprehensive medical coverage (United States excluded) and life insurance included.
