Information Management Officer At Danish Refugee Council


The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, working in more than 40 countries to provide adequate assistance with a rights-based approach for refugees, asylum-seekers, internally displaced persons, returnees and migrants. DRC has been present in Colombia since 2011 with a focus on Humanitarian Action against Mines (HMA) and providing support to the population affected by the conflict in the south of the country, but 2018 expands its operations in response to the Venezuelan crisis. DRC Colombia is currently implementing a humanitarian response focused on protection for Venezuelan and Colombian refugees and migrants returned in Colombian cities such as Riohacha, Barranquilla and Bogotá,currently it also incorporates activities in the municipality of Barbacoas and in Norte de Santander.

About work:

Provide support in information management (collection, transformation, analysis and visualization of information), ensure the quality and timeliness of the information according to the technical requirements and the guidelines established in each of the programs executed in DRC.

Main responsibilities

  • Ensure the correct implementation of DRC’s information management strategy in DRC Colombia programs.
  • Manage online tools to access, collect and manage information such as Forms, Power APPs, Kobotoolbox / ODK, Power Bi, etc.
  • Support program teams in the field at the national level in technical concepts on information management
  • Generate protection monitoring reports, contribute to developing formats for the presentation of data already collected and carry out information backups.
  • Maintain and preserve databases of all running DRC programs
  • Contribute to the design and implement strategies and data presentation.
  • Provide support to the processes of collection, transformation and analysis of information to the programs in execution.
  • Contribute to the improvement of the quality of the data in the through monitoring and feedback.
  • Automate verification and validation of data integrity. Report any important topics and changes to your technical superior.
  • Manage physical resources, keep them safe updated and working correctly with the forms created in the different tools that the organization manages.
  • Ensure the proper handling of information on IPs, carrying out a duplication process, identifying missing persons and following up with team leaders.
  • Apply technical techniques and procedures for data analysis of the programs executed by DRC.
  • Ensure data protection and responsible data exchange according to standard DRC procedures.
  • Manage information through specialized software for statistical analysis of information (Orange, Python, R)
  • Make maps of interest to the organization (QGIS- ArcGIS).

Experiences and technical skills:

  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in Information Management (collection, transformation, analysis and visualization of information) and desirable 1 year of experience in humanitarian issues, peace and development.
  • Service vocation to meet the needs of the programs.
  • Ability to communicate technical ideas to program teams.
  • Design and layout knowledge of Dashboards and reports.
  • Expert level of Excel handling (Tables, Dynamic Tables, Power Query and Data Sources).
  • Intermediate level of management of relational databases (SQL, Normal forms and E-R models).
  • Knowledge of at least one data analysis programming language (Python, R or Julia).
  • Knowledge in GIS geographic information systems (QGIS- ArcGIS)

Desired:

  • Work experience in the humanitarian sector and data management for humanitarian protection.
  • Moderate knowledge of massive data management.
  • Knowledge of unstructured information management.
  • Desirable: spoken and written English knowledge.

Education required:

  • Professional in engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Software
