Help us by using your skills ! Oxfam is looking to fill a position of Humanitarian Programs & Advocacy Assistant.

What does the function consist of ?

This is’ to support the’ team in its tasks of monitoring the implementation of humanitarian projects/programmes on the ground, in its trajectories of humanitarian political advocacy, and, in its “ambition Genre” as well as in the communication of its activities.

Your responsibilities :

Monitoring of humanitarian programmes :

  • You participate in the monthly follow-up meetings of humanitarian projects/programmes and write the notes to them ;
  • You organize follow-up meetings yourself for a portfolio of projects assigned to you ;
  • You reread the proposals, reports, formulate some questions of clarification / consistency and rework the narrative in order to improve its quality ;
  • You may have to offer / prepare shorter visuals and / or products ( summary note ) to facilitate a “ quick digest ” long reports ;
  • You support the team in organizing visits by colleagues and partners and events ;
  • You are carrying out the “ Gender Marker ” of the new project proposals and review that of the projects / programs being implemented. You offer debriefing meetings to other team members.

Humanitarian advocacy :

  • You monitor the political’agenda of the BE and EU parliaments, you follow the social networks of’a number of political targets. You write reports, parliamentary sessions, conferences, etc.
  • You participate in events, meetings and other gatherings, represent the team and/or report content to the’ team ;
  • You support the’team in the’organisation of’events and bilateral meetings ;
  • You support the’ team in reviewing and finalizing advocacy products.

Other :

  • You contribute to the visibility of the humanitarian work/the’ team by the’writing of’articles, suggestions of positions on social networks, production of leaflets/one-pager, etc.
  • You support the’team in the’organisation of’external events ;
  • You consolidate the inputs of several people/members of the’team as part of the production of “collectives” documents.

Your profile :

  • You have a master’s degree in one of the following options: humanitarian law, international solidarity, geopolitics, etc. or’an equivalent experience.
  • You have professional experience of’ at least one year in NGOs (internship(s) relevant(s) included).
  • You are bilingual french/english – knowledge of dutch is an asset ;
  • You are familiar with Belgian and European decision-making processes, competences and institutions.
  • You have good analytical, synthetic and editorial skills, you communicate easily.
  • You know the issues of gender justice.
  • You adhere to the values of’Oxfam.
