Médecins Sans Frontières, an international humanitarian medical association founded in 1971, provides medical assistance to populations whose lives are threatened: primarily in cases of armed conflict, but also epidemics, pandemics, natural disasters, and even exclusion from healthcare.

MSF’s operations are managed by five Operational Centers based in Paris, Barcelona, ​​Brussels, Amsterdam, and Geneva, united within an international movement (MSF Movement) comprising a total of 24 associations. MSF France is integrated into the Operational Center based in Paris (OCP). The Intersection Legal Department is currently the only intersection department of the MSF Movement; its members are based in the various Operational Centers. Its mission is to provide legal support and analysis to the MSF Movement and to the various Operational Centers, sections, offices, and MSF International. As part of a temporary creation, we are looking for a:

HR and Duty of Care Lawyer F/M

The legal advisor participates in the development of legal policies by providing knowledge and support in their specialties.

Missions:

Under the hierarchical responsibility of the Legal Director and/or a Department/Area Manager:

Participate in the definition of legal policies:

  • Develop the strategy and participate with your hierarchy in defining legal policies by providing knowledge of your specialties
  • Ensure the proper implementation of the defined strategy, policies and objectives

Provide advice and support to cell teams, field teams and the network of lawyers:

  • Advise and manage issues related to their legal specialties with managers at headquarters and in the field
  • Ensure the application of legal procedures
  • Manage disputes by providing appropriate solutions
  • Ensure the implementation of tools to support cell and project teams: guides, models, guidelines, standard agreements, Memorandum of Understanding, etc.
  • Support and advise other lawyers within their area of ​​expertise
  • Organize and manage the use of external legal advice: law firms in the field

Participate in legal projects:

  • Participate and be a driving force in the implementation of legal projects within the international MSF movement and MSF satellites
  • Implement monitoring and reporting tools
  • Supervise the research officers, lawyers and law firms involved in the cases for which they are responsible

Transferring legal skills:

  • Train cell and field teams in their areas of expertise

Carry out legal monitoring on your specialties:

  • Management of legal monitoring and drafting of summary notes

Possible employment activities:

  • Supervision of the work of law firms.

Experience Profile
:

Professional experience of more than 4 years as a lawyer and field experience in the context of a humanitarian mission is desirable.

Languages :

  • Fluent French and English (C1)

Skills :

  • Very good mastery of one or more professional specialties.
  • Good command of international institutional and operational risk management.
  • Knowledge of project management.

Status : 12-month full-time fixed-term contract. Management position, based in Paris. Teleworking according to MSF’s current rules (2 days/week).

Conditions : €50.4K gross annual salary over 13 months. 22 days of RTT per year. Supplementary health insurance covered 100% by Médecins Sans Frontières. Meal vouchers with a face value of €12 (60% covered by Médecins Sans Frontières). 50% coverage of public transport tickets.

Information :

Due to administrative constraints linked to the duration of the contract, candidates must already have a work permit in France (citizen of the European Union) or a residence permit allowing them to work on French soil.
