You will contribute to ending world hunger by …

Lead the mission strategy in Health and Nutrition in an articulated way with the country strategy, ensuring the quality of the programs, guaranteeing technical assistance to the mission team and local counterparts and representing Action Against Hunger in external areas of technical coordination such as donors, technical groups / labor sectors, local and national authorities, among others.

The main activities you will carry out are the following:

Goal 1: Ensure strategic leadership for the Health and Nutrition program and technical support for implementation.

•Provide leadership and technical support to the health and nutrition team for a solid understanding of the needs of beneficiaries or vulnerable groups.

•Study, monitor and report regularly on the Health and Nutrition situation of vulnerable populations based on external sources (donors, government entities, multilateral agencies and other NGOs) and internal sources.

•In coordination with other technical sectors, lead the design and technical development of the health and nutrition component of donor proposals and intervention planning.

•Systematize the advances in Health and Nutrition of the Mission: number of beneficiaries, places of intervention, results of the programs and other indicators in the internal and donor reports.

•Incorporate feedback and lessons learned in redefining or adapting programs.

•Contribute to the development of multisectoral intervention projects and approaches in the context of the country strategy in coordination with the other technical sectors / areas, as well as cross-cutting approaches to gender and protection.

Goal 2: Capacity building and contribution to quality standards

•Prepare, review, adapt and validate the job descriptions of the members of the Health and Nutrition team in coordination with Human Resources.

•Participate in the recruitment and selection process of the Health and Nutrition team in coordination with Human Resources.

•Ensure the technical induction of the Health and Nutrition team.

•Promote and lead the use of technological tools for the Health and Nutrition sector and digital transformation in its area in coordination with MEAL.

•Propose or validate training topics and content for the Health and Nutrition team.

•Conduct identification of capacity development needs in local partners / partners.

•Organize and coordinate technical meetings with ACH Health and Nutrition teams and local partners / partners.

•Promote AAH’s internal mandate, strategy, procedures and standards within the H&N team

•Develop guidelines and tools for key interventions that ensure ACH standards, essential humanitarian principles, ESFERA standards, and any other relevant international standards throughout the project cycle.

•Defend ACH’s humanitarian principles and principles at all stages of S&N programming and provide pragmatic guidance to the H&N team on this matter.

Goal 3: Project cycle

•Participate in the formulation of projects from the Health and Nutrition component

•Provide technical assistance and validate at the technical level the implementation of Health and Nutrition activities.

•Participate in the preparation, coordinate implementation, and follow up on baseline studies of Health and Nutrition projects or components.

•Provide strategic and technical advice to implementation teams to devise creative solutions for the delivery and monitoring of S&N services, both in accessible and inaccessible areas.

•Identify opportunities for action-based research with the goal of improving S&N programming, piloting innovation projects, and seeking collaboration with appropriate institutions.

•Work closely with the MEAL team to improve accountability, ensure that comments and lessons learned are integrated into the adaptation of the program, design technical methodologies to effectively monitor and evaluate the S&N program.

•Prepare terms of reference (TdR), coordinate and follow up on evaluations (internal or external) of projects from the Health and Nutrition component.

•Review and capitalize evaluation recommendations for feedback in formulating new proposals.

•Provide technical advice to WASH, Food Security and Livelihoods in common areas of intervention such as hygiene, nutrition and food security promotion and construction of sanitary, educational and other facilities.

•Lead the Health and Nutrition components of monthly status reports, Clusters 5Ws, reviewing internal and external reports, including donor reports.

Objective 4: External representation and coordination

Develop and maintain relationships at the technical level with key external actors in the field of Health and Nutrition, such as donors, humanitarian teams, authorities, local and international organizations.

•Participate in meetings and technical forums such as clusters and specialists in the sector.

•Coordinate, supervise and maintain relationships with counterparts or subcontracted entities.

•Identify and maintain spaces that facilitate the exchange of information and experiences of ACH with other organizations on Health and Nutrition issues.

•Document lessons learned, best practices and case studies that allow deepening technical information, programmatic approaches and contributing to learning in the sector.

•Guarantee the projection of the area through the management of knowledge at the internal level and external incidence.

•Identify opportunities for alliances with other stakeholders (NGOs, governments, agencies, etc.).

•Support the Country Director and Deputy Country Director in institutional representation, when required.

Objective 5: Coordination with the mission support areas.

•Coordinate support for Health and Nutrition interventions with support areas (Finances, Logistics and Human Resources).

•Contribute to the application of logistics procedures for procurement, purchasing, transportation and mobilization.

•Participate in the preparation of technical budgets for your sector.

Goal 6: Security management

•Shorten the mission’s security plan and ensure compliance with the plan in the team in charge.

•Perform the security management tasks that can be assigned in your protocols.

•Communicate to workplace safety managers any information related to safety or non-compliance with the security plan.

Does this description fit with you?

  • University education in Public Health or Medicine, with experience in Nutrition.
  • Nutrition Training with strong knowledge and experience in Public Health.
  • Project management cycle
  • Experience in strategic planning and proposal formulation
  • Planning and implementation of interventions in the area of health and nutrition.
  • Knowledge of the context and systems of Health and Nutrition in LATAM and desirable of the Venezuelan context.
  • 3 years, minimum, in the humanitarian sector.
  • Desirable: experience working with partners / partners for capacity development.

    1. Insurance for expatriate personnel: Health, Life, repatriation, travel.
    2. Two (2) trips for Breaks (R&R) per year according to the established reference area.
    3. Per Diem of 215 euros for each Break trip (paid in Mission).
    4. House -Guest house- shared.
    5. Ticket back to country of origin.
    6. Holidays
