Head of Project – Multisector Intervention* At Welthungerhilfe


The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Poltava, Ukraine, with frequent travel to other Office locations within the country.

Alliance 2015 members Welthungerhilfe (WHH) and Concern Worldwide have been working together in Ukraine since February 2022, using their combined resources and reach to ensure a quick and effective emergency response to assist the crisis-affected populations. As Head of Project – Multisector Intervention, you will manage the implementation of emergency response projects together with local partners. The project encompasses cash transfers, in-kind food and non-food item distributions, psychosocial support and protection assistance. You will also assist in the development of new projects and support rapid response efforts.

Your responsibilities

  • Continiously identify the needs of the affected population in Eastern and Southern Ukraine and propose and implement action to cover these
  • Manage and recruit project staff including Cash & Winterization Officers, Protection Officers, Distributions Officers, and other members of the project team and support them in their day-to-day work
  • Coordinate with implementing partner(s) and support them in the implementation of projects ensuring timely delivery of project outputs
  • Financial management of the projects, producing financial forecasts and verifying budgets vs. actual on regular basis
  • Logistics management of the projects, ensuring that the distribution plans and procurement requests are done in a timely and effective manner in coordination with the operations department
  • Collaborate with the partnership team in the management of partnership agreements
  • Work closely with the MEAL team to analyse key data linked to project outputs and quality, and share output-level data with the JERU (Joint Emergency Response Ukraine) MEAL department as required
  • Attend coordination meetings relevant to the projects and areas that the projects are implemented
  • Regularly meet with local authorities to ensure they are informed about JERU’s activities and if necessary required permissions are obtained
  • Actively Support the Programme Director and in-country Technical Advisors in the development of new proposals and the country strategy as required
  • Coordinate with the Partnership Advisor on the capacity building needs and planning of local partners and on the identification of potential new partners
  • Act as main focal point for IOM common pipeline and manage the distribution of items received from the pipeline in your geographical area of responsibility

Your profile

  • A university or college degree in humanitarian action or equivalent qualifications that are commensurate with this position
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in a similar position
  • Regional experience in Ukraine or a similar context is an asset
  • Institutional donor experience would be an asset
  • Experience with common pipelines and cash and voucher assistance is an asset
  • Coordination and organisational skills, including ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills and intercultural sensibility
  • Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for working in Welthungerhilfe’s project countries
  • Excellent spoken and written English, knowledge of Ukranian and/or Russian is an asset
