Sightsavers is looking for a Governance and Compliance Manager to provide a multi-disciplinary range of services to the organisation in the core areas of global governance, complaint management and compliance management.
Salary: £39,148 to £46,057
Location: UK remote – with travel to Haywards Heath, West Sussex when required
Contract: Permanent
Hours: This is a full-time role with some fle xibility around hours worked and lots of home working
We are looking for an experienced governance/ compliance professional to working with the Director of Governance, Legal & Assurance and the Controller of Governance and Assurance to manage governance and compliance activities and embed good corporate governance practice across the organisation. Key responsibilities will include:
• Managing and oversee Sightsavers’ country office governance, including ensuring that all statutory governance, registration and filing obligations are met
• Managing Sightsavers’ global complaints management platform
• Leading on and managing Sightsavers’ programme of compliance for the Modern Slavery Act 2015
• Supporting the Governance and Compliance team with managing Sightsavers’ compliance programme, including areas such as data protection, gambling compliance and fundraising compliance
• Providing strategic support to the Controller of Governance and Assurance on all areas of governance and compliance with statutory, regulatory and sector/ membership requirements
• Management of the Governance and Assurance Officer

This is an ideal opportunity for a motivated individual to build on their existing governance and compliance experience in a role which continues to evolve and grow. You will need:
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent time management and the ability to prioritise multiple projects and stakeholders
• Broad and detailed working knowledge of governance, charity governance and company statutory legal requirements in the UK and Sightsavers’ territories
• Good working knowledge of compliance and compliance management
• A flexible and independent approach, recognising the need to adapt and implement appropriate solutions
• Good leadership skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
• A professional qualification or accreditation in an area related to governance, legal or compliance, or willingness to pursue would be desirable.
• Additional language skills, in particular French, would be useful although not essential for this role
