Introduction

The position is assigned to the work unit in the Country Office for Mexico and Cuba of the International Labor Organization which has among its main functions:

  •  Develop technical cooperation programs that promote decent work and social justice; gender equality; compliance with fundamental principles and rights at work; social protection; occupational safety and health, promotion of employment, job placement, formalization, and improvement of labor productivity.
  •  Promote ratification and follow up on the application of International Labor Standards ( Conventions and Recommendations ).
  •  Provide guidance and technical assistance to its constituents ( government, employers’ organizations, workers’ organizations ) in Mexico and Cuba, for the implementation of International Labor Standards in practice and the development of cooperation programs that lead to their compliance, as well as compliance with the Agenda for Sustainable Development – Agenda 2030. To this end, the Office also collaborates with other agencies of the United Nations System, the legislative and judicial branches, decentralized bodies, local governments, civil society organizations, academic institutions, foundations and the media.

Based on the generation of specialized knowledge and the compilation of international best practices, generate cooperation proposals and mobilize the corresponding resources

Main objective

As a team member, the incumbent will work as a driver by providing reliable and secure services to the Office Director, as well as other officials and visitors, and guaranteeing the highest levels of discretion, integrity and sense of responsibility

The post holder will be in charge of organizing the protocol and preferential treatment services at the airport and will take care of the customs procedures when he receives high-level delegations. Occasionally, you may also have to carry out some messaging functions and provide administrative support services. The owner must plan and organize the workload taking into account that there may be changes in the priorities and coinciding deadlines, and move from one task to another to meet multiple requests for support

This work will affect the delivery of mail and suitcases and the transportation services of the Office. The holder of the position will work under the supervision of the Operations Officer

It will carry out its functions with a certain degree of operational autonomy and supervision will focus on the satisfactory performance of the tasks assigned to it. You will not receive guidance on the technical aspects of your tasks, but you will be supervised with respect to procedures and daily operation

Work Relations

Internally, the post holder will be in contact with staff and ILO officials who are visiting, for instructions on practical matters, such as work schedules, and to exchange information. Externally, the holder of the post will be in contact mainly with government and airport authorities to exchange information

Specific functions

  •  Ensure safe and reliable driver services. Carry the Office Director, high-ranking officials, and other authorized personnel and visitors. Receive officials and people who are visiting at the airport, helping, whenever necessary, with protocol, visa and customs procedures.
  •  Deliver and collect mail and documents, as well as other items.
  •  Ensure cost optimization through proper use of vehicles, accurate daily maintenance of their records and preparation of documentation and maintenance plans.
  •  Ensure adequate daily maintenance of the assigned vehicles, timely carrying out minor repairs, arranging for larger reviews and repairs, changing the oil in due time, checking the tires, brakes and water levels, cleaning vehicles, etc., so that they are clean and function properly at all times.
  •  Ensure the availability of all necessary documents and supplies, including documents related to vehicle insurance and registration, driving licenses, the Office directory, city and country plans, first aid kit and other necessary items in accordance with minimum operational safety standards ( MOSS ), as well as the necessary spare parts in the assigned vehicles.

Main objective

  •  Plan, when appropriate, the daily hours of drivers and vehicles.
  •  Inform the Operations Officer promptly of the procedures related to the ( re ) registration and insurance of all vehicles in the Office.
  •  Assist Office staff in archiving, photocopying, and maintenance of supplies. Assist in the sending, compilation, and distribution of documents and publications, including to ministries and banks. Process payment of Office phone bills and other bills. Enter data into the computer.
  •  Perform other related tasks assigned to you

Education

Complete secondary studies. Valid driving license and clean file of Offenses

Experience

A minimum of three years of relevant work experience and a secure driving record. Experience as a driver in any United Nations agency, diplomatic corps or international organization.

Languages

Excellent command of Spanish and basic written and spoken command of the English language.
