About Mobile Info Team

Mobile Info Team (MIT) is determined to work towards a future where people on the move in Greece have fair access to asylum and are treated with the respect their humanity deserves. We do this by providing people on the move with vital information and clarification about the asylum process and related procedures.

Next to information provision, we advocate for the rights of people on the move by collecting testimonies and publishing reports. We engage with other actors in order to put the protection and promotion of human rights on the European political agenda and to tackle key obstacles faced by asylum seekers and refugees in Greece.

The position of Fundraising and Communications Manager is a key role within MIT and an excellent opportunity to help grow a well established grassroots organisation that has been providing support in (Northern) Greece since 2016. You will be a member of the leadership team, leading the fundraising, communication and finances, as well as being a part of the decision making team furthering professionalization and strategizing the development of the organization and our goals.

What we are looking for

A proactive, enthusiastic, strategic supporter of social justice that has experience in fundraising, communication across multiple platforms and financial administration, ideally in the humanitarian aid sector in Greece. An excellent relationship builder, engaging communicator, accurate reporter and self organized individual.

Duties and responsibilities

Fundraising & Communications

  • Research and identify new potential donors and funding opportunities
  • The writing and submission of grant applications for new and existing donors
  • Research, collect data and write reports to donors and partners according to their requirements and timelines
  • Review the fundraising strategy together with director and the board
  • Update and implement the fundraising policies
  • Conduct due diligence checks of new donors
  • Actively maintain and build relationships with potential and existing donors
  • Leading the communication strategy of the organization across all platforms with the aim to increase visibility and crowdfunding revenues
  • Develop and produce communication materials such as social media posts, fundraising campaign materials and website updates
  • Lead on the writing of the annual report

Budgeting and general administration

  • Budgeting and forecasting all costs of the project
  • Maintain compliance with external regulations and internal policies
  • Collect and analyze relevant data for internal and external reporting
  • Administration of all finances including rent payments, utilities, expenses and stipends
  • Support the wider team with ad-hoc, general administration tasks as needed

Member of the leadership team

  • Contribute to formulating medium to long term strategic objectives in close cooperation with the leadership team and external facilitators
  • Monitoring progress and ensuring strategic plans match operational objectives
  • Assist with decision making in alignment with the best interests of the organization
  • Providing guidance and support to the team when needed

Profile

  • Prior experience in fundraising and grant applications
  • Strong interest and affinity with humanitarian/NGO service delivery in the Greek refugee context and legal framework. Explicit experience in fundraising in the context of grassroots organisations in Greece is highly desirable
  • At least 1 year of experience in leadership within humanitarian aid projects is strongly preferred
  • Experience with stakeholder management at senior level with strong negotiation and relationship building skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an excellent command of English. Knowledge of Greek language is considered an asset
  • Experience in managing communication strategies and social media platforms is preferred
  • Ability to design and implement proposals and reports in a clear and structured manner
  • Strong independent work ethic that can drive completion of long term projects
  • An excellent understanding of managing data spreadsheets
  • Adept at working in variable context, comfortable with unpredictability and change
  • Committed to helping people realize their human right to asylum

Conditions

  • Compensation: 1500 euros per month including VAT (if applicable)
  • Working hours: full time position
  • Commitment: at least 6 months, preference will be given to candidates who are able to commit for longer
  • Start date: as soon as possible
  • Holidays: 12 days off per 6 months, excluding Greek bank holidays
  • Location: the role is based in Thessaloniki, and you must be eligible to reside and work in the EU
