SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association that, for over 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their vital needs: drinking, eating, and shelter. Particularly committed to combating diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI implements through its interventions expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and the promotion of hygiene, but also in the essential field of food security and livelihoods. Present in 25 countries, SI teams – 3,200 people in total, made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at headquarters, a few volunteers, etc. – intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Head of the Communications Department, within the Development and Communications Department, your mission is to lead the strategy and management of SI’s Press Relations and to participate in the editorial production of the Development and Communications Department, in line with the association’s mission of testimony and in a multi-channel approach.

List of main responsibilities:

1) The Press Relations strategy

In coordination with the Head of Communications, the Press Relations and Editorial Officer implements the association’s press relations strategy and provides expertise on the fundamentals, processes and tools of PR management.

  • Implementation of the association’s PR strategy and global opinion relay, as well as strategies aimed at promoting the France mission, the image of the General Director, the association’s participation in major events and the visibility of the Regional Delegations.
  • Expertise in press relations management tools and the press approach on social networks.
  • Development of the journalist and influencer file.
  • Update of performance indicators and reporting.
  • Creation and animation of media training.

2) Press Relations Management

The Press Relations and Editorial Officer is responsible for the day-to-day management of Press Relations and the allocated budget:

  • Writing press releases and kits, posting and sending.
  • Management and development of journalist relations: interview requests, meetings, press lunches, prospecting, etc.
  • Support for speaking engagements: preparation of topics, briefs and support for spokespersons, media training.
  • Analysis of press coverage and results.

The Press Relations and Editorial Officer is responsible for the press telephone and manages incoming calls.

3) Press visits

  • Definition of the process for field press visits and mission briefing.
  • Accompanying journalists on press trips, in France or internationally.

4) Writing

The Press Relations and Editorial Officer participates in the production of content for the Department.

  • Taking into account the press relations dimension in the editorial meeting and in defining subjects, identifying opportunities for speaking out in the media.
  • Writing content for the website or publications (including the Donors’ Journal) in conjunction with the Editorial Coordinator and, in the same way as the Field Communication Officer, defining angles and treatments, collecting and sourcing information, meetings with internal and external stakeholders, interviews where appropriate, writing content, searching for illustrations and validating the elements produced
  • Identification of content partnership opportunities and prospecting of targeted contacts (media, press agencies, etc.).

5) Crisis communication

Deputy Director of Development and Communication in the event of a crisis unit, particularly for press relations.

  • Like other members of the DDC, the Press Relations and Editorial Officer participates in crisis communication during humanitarian emergencies.
  • Dedicated press contacts for SI during collection actions in connection with the Alliance Urgences.

To carry out their mission, the Press Relations and Editorial Officer may travel regularly to our areas of operation, internationally or in France, depending on needs.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Education: BAC+5 in communication, political science or influence communication.
  • Experience: 3 years minimum, including at least one experience in the humanitarian sector.
  • Very good interpersonal skills, very good oral and written communication.
  • Excellent writing skills, ability to summarize and structure information.
  • Knowledge of the media and how they work.
  • English proficiency: bilingual.
  • Interest in Solidarités International and the humanitarian environment.
  • Autonomy, ability to take initiative, team spirit and ability to work in project mode.

IF YOU WILL OFFER THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS

  • Fixed-term contract: 9.5 months, maternity leave replacement
  • Position based at the headquarters of Solidarités International in Clichy la Garenne (Mairie de Clichy metro station) with travel to the field
  • Possibility of teleworking: 4 or 12 days of teleworking/month
  • Gross monthly salary: €3,502 or €3,647 according to the current salary scale
  • Leave: 2.0833 CP/month and 1 day of RTT/full month of work
  • Mutual insurance (80%), meal vouchers (60%), transport tickets (50%) covered by the association
  • Recovery days and 100% medical coverage during field trips
