The Opportunity – Finance Assistant (Gaza)
Post location: Gaza Field Office – Rafah and subject to change based on SC priorities and response in Gaza.
Contract Duration and Level of Effort: until 31st December 2024, with a possibility of extension based on available funds.
ROLE PURPOSE:
To prepare and record all type of financial transactions according to Save the Children and donor regulations. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: Gaza Finance Officer
Staff reporting to this post: None.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Receive and Review documentation and issue Payments – Payment focal point.
- Program Advances / Petty Cash Settlement.
- Bankbook Timely updates to record all payment and make sure availability Bank balances.
- Register financial transaction into system and prepare offline Log Book.
- Archiving system and make sure that all document sorted and completed in Box files and soft copy on finance share folder.
- Support in submitting financial document to Auditor, Partner, and general stakeholder.
- Social security, tax department and Bank focal point and make sure to hold regular visit at least one visit per Month.
- Support in Finance briefing
- Prepare CFR for Regional Office.
- Prepare bank reconciliation.
- prepare monthly staff salaries, income tax and social security
- Carry out support visits for interim support to Country Offices if needed.
- Undertake any other duty as reasonably requested.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting / Finance
- 2+ years of working experience in Finance.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Able to work within a team
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills
- Computer literacy in MS Office.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and time management skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions with limited supervision.
- Flexibility and ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations.
- Team player and strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Honest, hardworking and committed to community development.
- Basic oral and written English skills with ability to draft and edit program reports.
Desirable
- Language skills in Arabic and other local languages
- Experience or knowledge of working and living in relevant regions/contexts
- Knowledge of consortia working
