Finance And Compliance Officer (80%) – Fixed-Term Contract At TRIAL International


Founded in 2002, TRIAL International is a non-governmental organization that fights against impunity for international crimes and supports victims in their quest for justice. The organization provides legal assistance, conducts investigations, brings cases to justice, builds the capacity of local actors and advocates for human rights.

In addition to its headquarters in Geneva, TRIAL International has offices in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Bosnia and Herzegovina and organizes field missions worldwide. With an annual budget of over CHF 4 million, the organization benefits from diversified funding from public donors, private foundations, international organizations and individual donations.

In order to strengthen the structure of the organization and support its growth, we are looking for a Finance and Compliance Officer .

In this role with varied responsibilities, your main mission is to ensure rigorous and transparent use of resources, while improving the efficiency of grant management.

YOUR MISSION

  • Grant Management: You support the preparation and monitoring of financial reports related to grants, coordinate project audits, participate in the development of budgets and various allocations. You develop tools to optimize grant management and advise project managers on best practices.
  • Financial monitoring of projects and field offices: You organize budget coding, update financial procedures, train staff, and participate in strengthening internal control. You are responsible for verifying field office expense reports and optimizing tools. More broadly, you play a key role in improving financial flows between Geneva and the field offices, as well as in the project to set up local accounting.
  • Compliance: You ensure compliance with donor requirements and internal policies, while supporting teams in preparing calls for tenders, establishing contracts and related documents. You facilitate the use of tools such as timesheets and ensure adequate documentation to meet audit requirements.

YOUR PROFILE

  • You have training in project management, management control, business administration, accounting, economics, or other relevant field, supplemented by proven professional experience in a similar position, preferably within a legal or development NGO.
  • You have solid experience in managing projects funded by institutional donors, including financial management, audit monitoring and the establishment of various calls for tenders.
  • You have excellent command of IT tools (MS Office), particularly Excel.
  • You demonstrate good organizational skills, precision and rigor. You are comfortable anticipating needs, know how to meet deadlines and juggle multiple priorities.
  • You are a person open to implementing new processes, oriented towards finding solutions and you are a force for proposals.
  • You have a perfect command of French and you express yourself easily in English, both orally and in writing.
  • You are able to work independently while having a good team spirit. Your sense of communication and your intercultural sensitivity allow you to develop working relationships based on respect, mutual understanding and mutual assistance.
