General context

Rikolto in DRCongo, is an international foundation of’utility under Belgian law active in four continents:’Africa, Latin America,’Asia and’Europe. Present in the Democratic Republic of Congo since’an 2005, Rikolto RDCongo implements a development and’ programme to support agricultural value chains and food systems in a logic of sustainability of interventions and’ appropriation of processes by stakeholders. It is active mainly in the arabica coffee, cocoa, rice and sustainable food systems sectors in cities. Its regional representative office in DR Congo is located in Bukavu, South Kivu. In recent years, Rikolto’s programmes in DR Congo have grown significantly and its teams have grown. For the years to come, Rikolto aims to increase its impact by three times while ensuring effective management and creating an adequate framework for the development of its staff and the’organisation in a global way. To get there, Rikolto wants to recruit a Finance Analystable to’ accompany the’organization in its vision by ensuring financial and accounting management.

Responsibilities and main tasks

  • Ensure and supervise the monthly, annual closings and prepare the financial statements according to SYSCEBNL and IFRS of the country’s accounts ;
  • Prepare and submit to Finance Manager all donor reports according to the contractual reporting cycle ;
  • Ensure unannounced checks of the boxes and produce the minutes ;
  • Send the consumption reports from the budgets weekly to the country managers of each program and discuss with them on the critical budget lines ( exhausted or whose rates are still zero : not used ) ;
  • S’ ensure that salary payment files are properly prepared and reconcile paid and recorded salaries while ensuring the particularity of advances granted to staff. Same for taxes and contributions paid and those recorded ;
  • To check whether the return of funds on SWIFT payments (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication), RTGS (Real-Time Gross Settlement) and EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) have been properly accounted for to compensate for original transactions that failed at the bank level ;
  • S’ ensure that the bonds taken by the banks are correctly encoded in the appropriate accounts and follow-up is ensured so that the bonds are returned after presentation of the expected elements.
  • S’ ensure that legal obligations relating to financial information are transmitted to the relevant state services before the deadlines provided for by law (different declarations to the DGI after payment, etc, and’other non-consecutive declarations of payments) ;
  • Holding country finance meetings and S’s ensure that each finance officer performs his or her tasks correctly and reassemble the’information in case of need for capacity building which is necessary’ whose competence is not’ available within the’ team Country.
  • Represent Regional Finance Manager to partners, funders and solicitations of internal Rikolto teams in DRCongo.
  • Write financial technical notes, letters with preponderant financial information’ and send to the Regional Finance Manager for approval in a form and with a quality fund ;
  • S’ ensure that the statutory financial statements of the partners are certified internally according to generally known and applied accounting requirements
  • Take responsibility for the’ finance country team and S’sure to be able to answer all accounting and financial questions of the country.

Academic training and experiences

  • University studies with a BAC+5 degree in Financial Management, Accounting and Audit, management sciences, business management, business and administrative sciences or other related field.
  • Have professional experience of’at least 5 Years in an international NGO (preferably in the field of agricultural development) as an accountant or financier with a relevant level of responsibility and in the’ use of accounting software TOMPRO and or EXACT Globe.
  • Being certified as an accountant (certified accountant) would be an asset

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Power Query, Power Pivot and Power BI to centralize, transform, analyze and present budget and financial data in the form of dashboards ;
  • Good knowledge of donor procedures such as: DGD, BM, IFAD, USAID and EU ;
  • Ability to take the lead and ensure adequate and timely follow-up actions ;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision ;
  • Be able to work in a multicultural environment ;
