The minimum qualifications required have been determined according to the specific functions and responsibilities of this position.

The specific language requirements for this position are detailed below. However, candidates who apply for vacant positions in the organic services category, who have not yet successfully completed their internship period within the ILO and whose mother tongue is not one of the working languages of the French, English and Spanish ( Office, must have a fully satisfactory knowledge of at least one of the ILO working languages. If appointed, they may be required to acquire knowledge of a second working language of the Office during their first years of service.

Introduction

The position is to be filled within the Technology Management Services ( TMS ) of the Department of Information and Technology Management ( INFOTEC ). INFOTEC provides modern, secure and reliable IT infrastructure, technology, applications and services that enable the ILO to make the most of technology to carry out its mandate.

Technology Management Services conceptualize, implement and maintain the technologies demanded by clients to work effectively and work to reduce risks, promote staff mobility and productivity and develop effective and efficient solutions to meet customer demand.

The incumbent will be responsible for accessibility, ease of use and structure of data for file management services provided to ILO departments and staff, in collaboration with other INFOTEC units.

The incumbent will report to the Head of User Support Services within MSDs.

Specific tasks

1.Maintain, update and improve file management and sharing services. This includes maintenance of sharing, permissions, access and the structure of the various file repositories. The underlying infrastructure is outside the scope. 2.Manage the life cycle of readers and shared sites; migrate and archive existing content ; guide data owners by adopting best practices for storing and classifying their files. 3.Examine user rights to the structure of file management services and establish / rationalize security groups. 4.Take on the role of second level focal point of support for file management services. 5.Prepare a report on the rights to’access to data and perform an analysis to identify corrective measures to restructure the directories and / or access rights. 6.Develop and execute test plans to qualify new functionalities and the evolution of services. 7.Document existing file management procedures and keep them up to date. 8.Produce the description of the services and the training material 9.Perform other relevant tasks requested Perform other relevant tasks requested Perform other relevant tasks requested

These specific tasks complete the generic description established by the ILO for this position, namely: Generic tasks

  •  Develop, maintain, update, correct and improve complex solutions. Make recommendations on the acquisition of hardware and software required by the organization. Analyze the organization’s information needs and give advice.
  •  Recommend the adoption of standards and their adaptation according to the evolution of technologies and user needs.
  •  Plan, install, manage, maintain and provide a user support service for LAN and Internet connectivity to facilitate operations and ensure the efficient use of the network and communication systems.
  •  Solve network operating problems within and outside the organization. Diagnose the problems encountered by users and adopt the measures necessary to resolve them.
  •  The incumbent may be called upon to lead small project teams, made up of support staff, for the interconnection of networks and the execution of workstation and server activities.
  •  Provide assistance to field offices for network matters.
  •  Evaluate hardware and software; determine in detail the possibilities of use and participate in the preparation of requests for proposals.

Qualifications required

Training

Undergraduate university degree in computer science, electronics or related discipline. A post-secondary diploma or certificate from a reputable educational institution and an additional four years of relevant work experience, in addition to the five years of experience required in the job description, can be considered in place of the first university degree. Professional certifications in the field of the technologies concerned would be an asset.

Experience

At least five years of professional experience in the field of information technology, including two years devoted to the administration and management of Microsoft Windows file services ; two years of user management and authorizations with Active Directory; and a year of SharePoint and Microsoft Teams document and sharing administration.

Languages

Excellent command of French or English and practical knowledge of the second language.

Skills

In addition to the essential skills of the ILO, this position requires: Technical skills– Excellent knowledge of file sharing technologies on Microsoft Windows server – Good knowledge of Sharepoint and Microsoft 365 file sharing – Mastery of Powerershell scriptwriting and automation tasks – Basic knowledge of the following areas, as required: o General IT concepts o Computer security o Computer hardware and software for personal computers o Internet o Electronic messaging systems o Network / server operating systems/personal computers o Programming languages o Ability to analyze user needs, to deal with and resolve technical problems o Ability to communicate effectively to oral and written o Ability to provide an oral service’user support o Ability to produce reports and other documents

Conditions of employment

  •  Any commitment and / or extension of contract is subject to the Staff Regulations and other internal rules in force. Any job offer from the ILO is subject to certification by the Advisor / Councilor/medical era ( e ) of the ILO according to which the person concerned is medically able to fulfill the inherent and specific requirements of the post offered. In order to confirm an offer from the ILO, the / candidate ( e ) retained ( e ) must undergo a medical examination.
  •  The initial contract will be issued for a period of twenty-four months.
  •  The external external candidate ( e ) retained ( e ) will be on probation for the first two years of his assignment.
  •  Any extension of contract beyond the probationary period is subject to satisfactory conduct and performance.
