Duties andResponsibilities

The United Nations Environment Programme, Law Divisions Faith for Earth Initiative has gained a global positive reputation and is moving to include a wider spectrum of audiences through designing and implementing innovative approaches to involve faith communities to deliver UNEPs mandate. Under the objectives of the Programme, the Individual Contractor will provide programmatic and substantive support in the implementation of the faith strategy for mobilizing faith action towards the UN Decade of Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030), mobilizing faith actions towards relevant COPs, and providing overall programmatic support in support of UNEPs Medium- Term Strategy (MTS) and Programme of Work (PoW). The Individual will work on specific results on a deliverables basis, as outlined below. This Individual Contractor position is for the Faith for Earth Initiative of the Law Division and will report to the Principal Coordinator of Faith for Earth Initiative. Responsibilities: The Individual Contractor will perform the following tasks: 1. Facilitate engagement of Faith-based organizations on fighting plastic pollution. 2. Design an advocacy campaign on Green Faith Festivals. 3. Facilitate the implementation of the Human-nature Relationship Challenge. 4. Facilitate an assessment and mapping of Faith-Based Natural assets of land, forests and ecosystems. 5. Coordinate efforts for the Faith Pavilion organized with more than 20 events. 6. Prepare Faith for Earth Achievement Report.

Qualifications/special skillsA Bachelor’s Degree in Law with knowledge of UNEP, international organisations, and interreligious dialogue is required. A minimum of 2 years of suitable experience in areas relevant to programme management and delivery, multistakeholder engagement within the UN System, first-hand knowledge of engaging faith-based organisations, interreligious dialogues and knowledge of how UNEP operates is required.
