Mission and objectives

UN Women, is the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, It has been present in Bolivia since 2010 with the mandate to contribute to the implementation of all the human rights commitments of women assumed and ratified by the Plurinational State of Bolivia.

Context

UN Women carries out its activities in the country from three mandates: i ) Normative, providing technical assistance and support in the application of legal and political frameworks to the 4 State Bodies ( executive, legislative, judicial and electoral ), departmental governments and municipal governments; ii ) Programmatic, framed in the projects and programs of the country office in the strategic areas of Governance and Political Participation, Economic Empowerment and Violence against Women; and iii ) Coordination and strategic alliances, cooperating to the development of capacities of government actors, civil society, the private sector, academia and the United Nations System as guarantors of women’s rights. The UN Women 2022-2025 Strategic Plan seeks to achieve gender equality,the empowerment of all women and girls and the full realization of their human rights. The Strategic Plan is based on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women ( CEDAW ), the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, Resolution 1325 of the United Nations Security Council on women, peace and security and subsequent Resolutions of this agenda, the Program of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development and other outcomes of relevant intergovernmental processes, as resolutions of the General Assembly and agreed conclusions of the Commission on the Status of Women.UN Women contributes to the implementation of the Regional Gender Agenda for Latin America and the Caribbean and to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by placing the Sustainable Development Goal ( ODS ) 5 gender equality at the center of the SDGs and in coordination with all other Objectives in order to ensure comprehensive progress. In 2022, the cycle of the UN Women’s Strategic Note 2018-2022 ended and a new strategic note was prepared for the period 2023-2027, establishing coordination within the United Nations System as a priority for the Country Office, establishing a specific result that reflects the efforts of the United Nations system for the inclusion of a gender perspective, and in direct relation to Result 7 of the UN Women Strategic Plan. In this context,the UN Women’s Office identifies the need to recruit a person responsible for leading the UN Women coordination component with other agencies of the United Nations System. Task description

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Program Management Specialist or her designated representative, the Volunteer/The UN will carry out the following tasks: – Provide technical advice for gender mainstreaming and women’s empowerment in developing coordination strategies and strategic alliances with United Nations System agencies in the country. – Contribute to the implementation of the UN Women Strategic Note 2023-2027, in particular the actions envisaged in the framework of coordination with the United Nations System and inter-agency actions. – Technically strengthen the actions of UN Women in the Coordination and Strategic Alliances component with agencies, funds and programs of the United Nations System,for the preparation of concept notes and proposals for joint programs, in coordination with the Program Management Specialist and the UN Women’s Area Coordinators. – Follow up on the coordination strategy with agencies of the United Nations system, in accordance with the new Framework for Cooperation of the United Nations System for Sustainable Development / UNSDCF ( United Nations Framework of Complementarity for Living Well in Bolivia – 2023-2027 ). – Follow up on the participation of UN Women in the different coordination bodies within the framework of Country Team ( United Nations Country Team -UNCT ), Results Groups, Specialized Groups, operations management and programmatic teams, in which UN Women contributes.- Contribute to the development and implementation of the Work Plan of the Gender Team of the Framework of Cooperation of the United Nations System for Sustainable Development / UNSDCF ( United Nations Framework of Complementarity for Living Well in Bolivia – 2023-2027 ), which includes the implementation of the gender marker, the implementation of the UNCT Gender SWAP action plan and the implementation of the prevention policy sexual harassment, discrimination and abuse of authority- PSEA. – Coordinate with agencies, funds and programs of the United Nations System and the UN Women team organizing, programming and developing the calendar of activities. – Contribute to the preparation of reports and documentation required for the OCR,from the results-based management approach ( GBR ) and in coordination with the Program Management Specialist and the UN Women Area Coordinators. – Contribute to the definition of Terms of Reference and manage tasks and consultancies linked to the Inter-agency coordination component. – Check, adjust and feed back the products and documents prepared by counterparts and consultancies – Generate inputs and strategic information for the creation or strengthening of alliances based on the analysis and mapping of possible partners to articulate the strategic areas of UN Women with other agencies, funds and programs – Review documents, summaries and other strategic materials for use in developing and presenting programmatic approaches, within the framework of inter-agency coordination.- Contribute to the preparation, evaluation and review of concept notes, proposals for joint programs for new donors. – Support in the identification and systematization of knowledge, experiences, good practices and lessons learned resulting from Inter-agency coordination. – Coordinate with the UN Women’s Advocacy and Communication Area to strengthen the implementation process of the Inter-agency communication strategy. – Guarantee the correct use of the corporate image of UN Women and donors in publications and events. – Any other activity that is required or assigned by the supervisor. In addition to the above,UN Volunteers are urged to join the UNV program mandate within their allocation and promote voluntary action through integration into communities in the development of his work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate part of their working time to one of the following recommended activities: – Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteering by reading relevant publications from both the UNV and external programs, as well as playing an active role in the activities of the UNV program ( for example, in the events commemorating the International Volunteer Day ); – Know and develop traditional forms and/or volunteer venues in the host country;- Provide annual self-assessment reports and at the end of the allocation on UNV actions, results and opportunities; – Contribute with articles/criticism of their experiences in the field and send them to headquarters for inclusion on the website, publications, pamphlets / brochures, press releases, etc., of the UNV program; – Assist with the Mentor Program for the new UN Young Volunteers; – Promote or advise local groups in the use of the Online Volunteer service of the UNV program or promote the use of the service to relevant local individuals and organizations when technically possible. Expected results: As an active member of the UN Women team, efficient, timely, attentive support will be provided,customer friendly and of quality to UN Women and its beneficiaries in the performance of their duties, including: – Technically strengthened the Inter-agency coordination component of UN Women Bolivia, and with the United Nations System, in accordance with the new UNSDCF Cooperation Framework and the UN Women Strategic Note, through work with agencies, funds and programs and participation in UNSDCF instances, for the development of joint strategies, plans and programs. The age, gender and diversity perspective is applied in a systematic, integrated and documented way in all activities throughout the assignment. A final assessment of the achievements made through development volunteering during assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized,the activities in which they have participated and the capacities developed

15 years of experience in the area of gender equality and women’s empowerment. – Studies on gender and / or human rights. Postgraduate or specialization studies will be positively valued. – Motivated to contribute to peace and development and service to others. – Flexible and open/or learning and new experiences. – Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of national and international staff. – Previous experience as a volunteer and / or experience of another culture ( studies, volunteer work, practices ) will be valued. – Computer skills ( Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social networks and others ).
