Education Specialist

Purpose of the position: Ensures the quality of the results and indicators in the education sector of the Safe Horizons Project: Andean Alliance for Disaster- Resilient Education/ Horizontes Seguros: Alianza Andina para la Educación Resiliente ante Desastres. Responsible for strengthening the capacities of staff, partners and guarantors in education issues, to contribute to advocacy mechanisms, with children, adolescents, partners and allies. In charge of liaising the project with national and subnational authorities (Regions of Piura and Tumbes) in the education sector for the fulfillment of the result of the project related to the promotion and implementation of the promotion and implementation model of the Safe Schools model in the Andean subregion. .

Requirements:

  • Professional in Education, Social Sciences, and related areas.
  • Studies related to Education in emergencies.
  • Knowledge of Child Protection.
  • Knowledge of disaster risk reduction or school safety (Desirable).
  • Knowledge of the curricular regulatory framework of the Ministry of Education.
  • Minimum two years of experience in education, protection, and gender issues, desirable in Piura and/or Tumbes.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in participation with children and adolescents from communities.
  • Experience working with partners, allies and multi-sector spaces, preferably in advocacy actions.
  • Use of virtual platforms in internal capacity-building processes with project staff and with the beneficiary population such as teachers, authorities and representatives of civil society.
  • Availability for field work.
  • Availability to travel to the communities where the project intervenes using various means of transportation.
