Distribution Leader – Yaracuy At Association of Volunteers for International Service


1. Context

AVSI Venezuela is a Venezuelan non-profit organization, created in 2022, to improve the living conditions of people in vulnerable situations. We are a local organization that has been operating in Venezuela since 2000 and linked to the international context through a partnership with the AVSI Foundation, a non-profit, non-governmental organization that supports 355 development cooperation projects in 42 countries, with headquarters in Italy and which promoted the creation of AVSI Venezuela.

The School Meals Programme and the Disability Inclusion Programme contribute to ensuring food security in pre-school, primary, mixed and special education centres. In addition, these programmes promote the inclusion of people with disabilities and strengthen the capacities of participants, improving access to and permanence in schools. AVSI implements both projects as a partner of the World Food Programme (WFP).

2. Object

With this announcement, AVSI Venezuela selects two (2) Distribution Leaders responsible for coordinating and leading the reception and distribution of food, as well as the correct socialization of the program during the take-home food distribution days.

3. Description of functions

  • Attend training sessions related to the program and its different components (registration, monitoring, distribution of food and non-food products, kitchen maintenance, inclusion, nutrition, communication with communities, protection and gender).
  • Efficiently organize on-call staff ensuring understanding of distribution procedures and standards.
  • Ensure that each member of the Take-Home School Meals team is clear about their role within the established distribution mechanism.
  • Ensures the availability of the necessary materials for distribution (paper, pens, bags, forms, among others).
  • Involve school staff in the distribution process, validating the participation of this team, the spaces used and the methodology applied.
  • Notifies the Implementation Assistant about delays or difficulties encountered during food distribution.
  • Ensures proper socialization of the program throughout the day of food distribution under the Take-Home Meals modality.
  • Ensures the distribution and use of communication materials established by PMA and warns of the need for their restitution due to deterioration.
  • Meets with the Implementation Assistant and the Operations Coordinator to plan distribution processes and present input on their performance.
  • Report to the Distribution Assistant any irregularities that put distribution at risk.
  • Perform any other tasks/activities required on the ground, such as support in locating schools.

4. Key requirements and qualifications

  • Education: Secondary and diversified training in any area (minimum requirement).
  • Experience: minimum two (02) years of work experience, preferably in food programs, social projects or community organizations such as grassroots organizations, neighborhood associations, etc. (must not be a political activist).
  • Food Hygienic Handling Course and Health Certificate (essential).

5. Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Resolution capacity.
  • Efficient handling of Microsoft Office® basic level.
  • Efficient management of technological equipment (smartphones, tablets).

6. Coordination of work

Distribution leaders will report directly to the Implementation Assistant and the Operations Coordinator, based on the guidelines issued by the LATEAM Regional Office, the AVSI Foundation Headquarters in Italy and the World Food Programme (WFP).

7. Type of contract

  • Temporary contract, to work specific days per month that will be communicated in advance.
  • Start date: October 1, 2024.
  • Completion date: July 31, 2025.

8. Workplace

The work will be carried out in the AVSI Venezuela office in Yaracuy with trips to the municipalities of Manuel Monge and Bolívar, so residing in San Felipe or nearby cities is highly desirable. Knowledge of the territory will be valued.
