Job Title: Digital Literacy Lead Trainer
Location: Kakuma, Kenya
Reporting to: Pathfinder Coordinator – Nairobi/Kakuma

Organizational and Country Office Context.
The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is a ministry of the Society of Jesus, incorporated as an international non-governmental organization with a mission to accompany, serve, and advocate for the rights of refugees and forcibly displaced people. The organization was founded in November 1980 and is now in over 56 countries. JRS undertakes services at national and regional levels with the support and guidance of an international office (IO) in Rome. The style of JRS service is human and spiritual, working in situations of greatest need, seeking the long-term well-being of refugees and displaced people while not neglecting their immediate or urgent needs.
The main services provided are education, reconciliation, livelihood activities, and psychosocial support. In Kenya, JRS has two projects: an urban refugee project in Nairobi focussing on Education and Livelihoods and a field project in Kakuma Refugee Camp focussing on Education, Integrated psychosocial inclusive Education programs in Centres, and Safe Shelters.
Context of the role.
JRS Kenya is seeking an expert to fill the Digital Literacy Lead Trainer position for the Digital Inclusion Program in the JRS Pathfinder Project. The post holder will work with a team of trainers to deliver effective and engaging technical training to DIP students and staff, both online and in person. The Lead Trainer will be responsible for co-managing the program and instructing students in the digital skills curriculum. The Lead Trainer must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, work well in a team, and demonstrate trustworthiness.
Reporting to the Pathfinder Coordinator in Nairobi/Kakuma, the Digital Literacy Lead Trainer will be based in JRS Kakuma Office. This is a fixed term contract typefor One (1) Year with possibility for extension subject to availability of funds and individual performance.

Key Duties & Responsibilities.
- In collaboration with the assistant pathfinder, provide leadership, coordination, and support for the Digital Inclusion program
- Maximising the effectiveness of current resources and initiatives and leveraging funding opportunities to ensure maximum impact
- Championing and promoting the digital inclusion program. Researching the current issues and providing expertise on digital innovation and advances in digital technology to support digital inclusion and digital capability.
- Managing the awareness of and readiness for the program launch and implementation
- Assist Instruct novice students in the digital skills and online freelancing curriculum
- Assist the trainers with computer lab management and diagnose and address technical issues.
- Assist students with course exercises and grade course exercises
- In collaboration with the DIP trainers, supervise students as they begin freelancing online.
- Work closely with the job placement assistant to review student profiles, advise students on an individual basis, and review proposals and job bids before submission
- Coordinate monthly feedback sessions with trainers and trainees regarding the progress of the program implementation.
- Perform routine maintenance of the computer lab equipment
- Contribute to the design of the exercises and assessments of student
- Act as a liaison between the students and JRS management by providing feedback for better and pro-active implementation.
Staff Management.
- Line-manage the junior trainer within the assigned projects, including day-to-day management.
- Facilitate regular meetings to assist information sharing between project staff, to ensure all staff members are aware of project objectives and current work plans and to provide the opportunity for feedback.
- Provide coaching and technical supervision to staff to develop ownership for DIP activities as needed.
- Assess the training needs of DIP staff and ensure together with the Project Director and Country Programs Manager that appropriate training is conducted.
Person Specification – Essential Requirements
(E) Qualification
- Must have a bachelor’s degree in ICT, Education, or Instructional Technology
- Must have proven and demonstrable work experience of 3 years in the EdTech/IT field or demonstrated track record of success in online freelancing
- Excellent digital skills, including general computer operation, Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), image and audio editing software, and professional digital tools (such as email and online tools)
- Experience with database management, PC hardware, printers, and laptops
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional commitment to the service of students and the Konexio program
- Extremely trustworthy, responsible, and reliable
- Prior teaching experience is strongly recommended
- Prior knowledge of business skills and entrepreneurship pertaining to freelancing highly recommended.
