The Opportunity – CP/MHPSS Community Engagement and Awareness Workers (CEW) ToR (Causal Worker)
Post location: Gaza Field Office – Deir al Balah – Subject to change depending on SC priorities
Contract Duration and Level of Effort: 6 month with possibility of extension.
ROLE PURPOSE:
The responsibilities of this position include the facilitation of community discussions, implementation of CP/MHPSS activities and the engagement with target groups in Save the Children’s Mobile PSS locations. Additionally, the role involves ensuring operational smoothness, supporting communication tasks, implementing activities related to projects in locations where the team in Gaza office operates, particularly in Save the Children’s Child Protection areas of implementation but subjected to other SCI sector’s needs. Hired staff must comply with Save the Children International’s policies and procedures.
For CFS facilitators assigned to Child Protection and Mental Health and Psychosocial support (CP/MHPSS) team, they will be working at the implementing mobile locations level and in close collaboration with other CP/MHPSS staff as the CP/MHPSS Supervisors, Officers, Coordinators and SC implementing partners. They will be responsible for the provision of PSS, Safe Identification and Referral (SIR) and awareness raising sessions on child protection while ensuring MEAL mechanisms and CP Minimum Standards in place.
SCOPE OF ROLE:

Role Dimensions: oPt CO is a high complexity country, multi-member interest, with an annual budget of around $40+m, and 100+ staff. Currently the program is experiencing a growth in funding and complexity due to the war in Gaza.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Represent Save the Children and engage with target groups in mobile PSS locations in close collaboration with CFS facilitators implementing activities in static locations.
- Lead community engagement activities in mobile loctions as the provision Psychosocial Support (PSS) sessions, Safe Identification and Referral (SIR) and awareness raising on CP/MHPSS, among others.
- Assist CP/MHPSS trainings and workshops on a weekly basis and support on its implementation when needed.
- Inform about our child protection activities and support in other sector activities when needed (i.e registrations, distributions, among others).
- Identify further needs of the beneficiaries and communicate with SC and other relevant stakeholders.
- Direct the audience to the appropriate staff or entities for assistance in line with Safe Identification and Referral (SIR) procedures and inform the CP/MHPSS supervisor about other relevant services in the area identified.
- Support SCI team in data collection
- Meet regularly for supervision with the CP/MHPSS Supervisor to discuss workshop planning, implementation and monitoring and evaluation.
- Assist the CP/MHPSS supervisor in making the procurement list and maintain an adequate stock of the location including maintenance.
- Assist with data collection, observation and accountability as set out by the CP/MHPSS Supervisor in close coordination with MEAL teams.
- Arrange appointments for Save the Children staff as needed.
Other duties:
- Ready to work to respond to any natural disaster or emergency anywhere in OPT.
QUALIFICATIONS
- College level education.
- Experience in working with children
- Social Work, pedagogy, psychology, education and non-formal education background will be appreciated.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage and handle a complex and varied workload.
- Ability to contribute to a small team, motivate staff, work collaboratively with colleagues, and provide support and advice as needed.
- Willingness and ability to significantly adjust working hours and collaborate with emergency teams coming from outside the sector.
