ABOUT JASS

JASS is a feminist movement support organization that strengthens voice, visibility, women’s leadership and collective organizational power for a just and sustainable world for everyone. We equip and strengthen the leadership and organizational capacity of women leaders and their organizations in Mesoamerica, Southeast Asia, and South Africa.

Our feminist movement building work supports underalternized women leaders (indigenous and rural land defenders, sex workers, garment workers, LBTQI +, HIV + and young activists) in the critical analysis of the power dynamics that affect their lives from the personal to the public, from the local to the global, to change the systems, structures and beliefs that perpetuate inequality, injustice and violence. Our approach creates the conditions for women to organize, mobilize and transform power in four areas of their lives: Body, Voice, Resources and Security.

Our commitment to transform power in the world begins with how we organize and function internally. Diversity, equity and inclusion are at the heart of who we are and how we found JASS. We have an intersectional staff and a shared leadership structure that represents diverse geographies, cultures, religions, generations, races, abilities, sexual orientations, and gender identities, and includes activists based on organization and movements at the national level. We strive for internal structures, policies and practices that value the range of knowledge that this diversity contains and that reflect shared principles and responsibility towards our mission.
