About this job

We are looking for a Communications Consultant to provide strategic and technical advice in communications management to the IDB Representation in El Salvador, in collaboration with the Knowledge Department, Innovation and Communication ( KIC ) and the Management of the Department of Central American Countries ( CID ), Haiti, Mexico, Panama and the Dominican Republic , as well as in everything related to relations with the priority media and audiences in a timely, efficient and agile manner, in line with the Bank’s corporate identity.

You will work with the Representation of El Salvador, which is part of the Knowledge, Innovation and Communication department ( KIC ) . This team is responsible for ( main tasks of the department ) Strategic management of communication and press, Development of communication materials, Accompaniment and advice, Internal communication.

This is what you will do

  •  Support and / or coordinate the preparation and implementation of communication plans for the efficient and timely development of initiatives, projects and events open to the public, both by the IDB Group and events carried out by third parties with the participation of the IDB.
  •  Act as the focal point of media interaction of the country ( radio, television, written press and digital media ) in coordination with KIC and in accordance with the IDB Group’s communication processes, policies and guidelines, as well as keeping the contact database updated.
  •  Coordinate with the CID communication area to contribute to the implementation of the communication strategy of the Central American Region, in line with the IDB corporate plan and applying the brand manual in each case.
  • Crisis management in coordination with VPC, KIC and CID Management, proactively carry out identification and management of communicational risks, management of specific crises and development of messages in accordance with corporate guidelines.
  •  Advise and support the Representative and office staff in social media management, consistent with the corresponding corporate policies ( AM-325 ) and the guides prepared by KIC, which includes external publications, branding, blogs, social networks and dissemination of public information on different channels.
  • Write and edit press releases, video scripts, conversation points ( talking points ), speeches, opinion pieces, blogs, newsletters and other materials that illustrate the scope, and the impact of representation activities and generate content for corporate social networks from the IDB.
  •  Maintain a key actor mapping and influencers of social networks and offline and Coordination and management of supplier relationship such as communication agencies, graphic designers or audiovisual producers.
  •  Likewise, be a focal point for interaction and support with those responsible for communication from public sector entities, the private sector, multilateral and bilateral international cooperators, academic sector and representatives of civil society.
  •  Ensure that the IDB brand image ( for example, logo, visual identity ) is well represented in events, publications and other products and in all communication products that involve the Bank.

This is what you need

  • Education: Master’s or equivalent combination of education and experience in communications, marketing, international development or related field, preferably with an emphasis on media relations and journalism. Experience in political analysis will be taken into account.
  • Experience : Have at least 5 years of experience in the media, strategic communication and public relations agencies, communication offices of international entities.
  • Languages : Spanish and English

  •  Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
  • Creative and narrative writing : Development of communication materials in which complex information is summarized that is reflected through powerful stories and narratives.
  • Crisis management : Respond quickly and professionally to crises and situations of reputational risk, communicating the facts of the situation, as well as the IDB’s justification for a response.
  • Management and evaluation of communication plans : Offer guidance regarding the roles, obligations and responsibilities of staff in communication projects to ensure the achievement of the program’s objectives.
  • Business acumen : Participate in meetings and forums with various business areas and functions to strategically support the IDB’s business objectives.
  • Marketing : Increase the impact of the IDB brand on specific markets or with certain groups of stakeholders

Requirements

  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of El Salvador or one of our 48 member countries, with residence or legal permission to work in El Salvador.
  • Consanguinity: He has no family members ( up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including the spouse ) who work at the IDB, IDB Invest or IDB Lab.

Type of contract and duration

  • Contract Type : Full-time national consultant.
  • Duration : 12 renewable months by mutual agreement
  • Labor location : On site.
