Organizational context

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the largest humanitarian organization in the world, through its 192 national societies. Its action is guided by the 2020 Strategy, which evokes its collective determination to meet the most pressing challenges facing humanity in the present decade. The IFRC is organized into five Regional Offices, one of which is that of America based in Panama. The Americas Region Office (ARO) supports national societies in the region to increase their humanitarian and development standards, so that they continue to be relevant in their territory and transparent in their action. The ARO in order to keep closer to the National Societies,It is present in the region with different Country Group Offices (CCD) throughout the Americas. The CCD based in Lima, Peru provides support to the Andean countries (Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru) develops the functions of the Regional office at the sub-regional level with the support of the Regional Technical Units and is responsible for following all the activities and initiatives of the IFRC, coordinate the actions of the Movement (according to its mandate) and offer integrated services (administration, finance, among others.)coordinate the actions of the Movement (according to its mandate) and offer integrated services (administration, finance, among others.)coordinate the actions of the Movement (according to its mandate) and offer integrated services (administration, finance, among others.)

Objective

The Logistics and Purchasing Consultant will be responsible for providing logistical support to ensure efficient management of the supply chain (purchases, imports and Logistics in General) in all the activities that are currently carried out from the CCD for Andean countries in Lima.

Responsibilities

  • Guarantee the efficient and effective delivery of logistics and procurement services.
  • Manage purchasing processes with suppliers (international and local) for the CCD Andean countries following the IFRC procedures.
  • Implement a periodic procurement plan in coordination with project teams.
  • In relation to Imports: Coordinate and carry out the timely monitoring of imports required by the Cluster Office, in coordination with the ARO URL, customs agents and government entities.
  • Support with the advice of purchasing processes to the staff when necessary.
  • Coordinate with the Panama URL to ensure compliance with the Federation’s logistics policies and regulations.
  • Support in the validation of the logistics processes of National Societies.
  • Support in the evaluation of the logistical capacities of the National Societies and others that are entrusted.

Consultant Profile

  • Experience At least 3 years of experience in similar positions.
  • Preferred: Having worked at IFRC
  • Language Required: English and Spanish
  • Face-to-face or virtual modality
  • Immediate Availability
  • Economic proposal: Present offer

Period: 1 month with possibility of renewal.
