Duties andResponsibilities
- Conducting research and deconstructing users’ digital interactions and habits;
- Overseeing and executing user UI/UX designs;
- Analyzing and offering solutions for UI/UX key issues;
- Developing workflows and interaction flows;
- Analyzing and presenting field analysis, clients feedback and usability findings;
- Managing milestones, schedules and deadlines for UX related project;
- Come up with UI and UX strategies based on target goals;
- Creating and maintaining digital assets, such as interface design files, wireframes, and interactive mockups using design and prototyping tools: e.g., Adobe XD, Sketch and InVision;
- Designing, building and maintaining highly reusable and responsive JavaScript, HTML and CSS code;
- Understanding the limitations of the tech stack and business model and providing technical advice wherever necessary;
- Building and documenting standards, framework, and guidelines of best UX/UI practices for current and future web applications. The following deliverables are requested:
- Setting of UI/UX problems/ issues in current UNRWA Applications;
- Rebuilding the current module in e-health in which issues/problems are found;
- The module is to adhere to best practices and industry standards in UI/UX development;
- Building reusable .Net Framework UI Library;
- Roadmap to upgrade the entire e-health system UI/UX;
- Developing a full Framework documentation contains the following: – UNRWA Applications UI/UX Design Principles. – UNRWA UI/UX Standards. – UNRWA UI/UX Design Guidelines. – UNRWA .Net Framework Library User Manual
- Conducting comprehensive sessions to staff on all the above, elaborating on how to use the framework (principles, standards, guidelines, and UI Library), and how to avoid implementing nonstandard UI/UX principles in UNRWA applications
Qualifications/special skillsAcademic Qualifications: A university degree or master’s degree from an accredited educational institution in information technology, information management, Information systems, computer science, computer engineering, Software engineering, Business Administration, Management, or other related disciplines. Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience for a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years for a master’s degree in front-end developer and a UI/UX designer.
- A portfolio that demonstrates both JavaScript proficiency and understanding of SOLID design principles (plugins, node packages, etc.);
- Expert knowledge of CSS, CSS extension languages (Less, Sass), and CSS preprocessor tools.
- Expert knowledge of HTML5 and its best practices;
- Proficiency in designing interfaces and building clickable prototypes using adobe XD, Sketch, InVision, Axure, etc.
- A history of deconstructing user behavior to create an improved experience for users, showcased in the form of blog posts, articles, screencasts, etc. DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
- Experience or knowledge of SQL-Sever, ASP.net, MVC, HTML, AJAX, JavaScript, JQuery, object-oriented analysis and design. Competencies:

- Training skills and ability to make clear presentations.
- Team spirit and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Language:
- Good command of spoken and written English. Service Conditions:
- The duration of the consultancy is 6 to 11 months, extendable according to performance and availability of funds.
- Remuneration for this consultancy will be USD 1600.00 depending on fund availability, qualifications, and relevant experience.
- The incumbent can be in any UNRWA field of operations (Gaza, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, or West Bank).
Additional InformationUNRWA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Nations International Computing Center (UNICC) that aims to enhance livelihood and human development opportunities to Palestine refugees in Gaza and all fields. By this new collaboration, UNRWA becomes a provider of Information Management, Technology services and capacity augmentation to the UNICC technical team, on a cost recovery basis through IMTD/IT Service Center (ITSC) in HQ-Gaza. The United Nations International Computing Center (UNICC) is a UN agency that provides IT services to other UN agencies on a cost recovery basis. UNRWA Information Management and Technology Department (IMTD) is looking for someone who is an expert in UI design, UX design, and front-end development. The consultant will be working mainly on one major system and will be understanding human-computer interaction design (HCID), in coming up with elegant solutions to improve our application, and in developing on a modern .Net framework as well as a UX/UI framework for existing and future web applications. The consultant will report administratively to the Head Information Technology Service Centre in Headquarter Gaza and technically to United Nations International Computing Center (UNICC).
