Consultant-Inclusion and Rehabilitation At International Medical Corps


BACKGROUND TO THE ASSIGNMENT
International Medical Corps (IMC) is a non-profit humanitarian organization dedicated to providing vital health care services, trauma care, mental health services, and protection to those impacted by war, natural disasters, and disease. International Medical Corps has been present in Syria since 2008, first supporting Iraqi refugees and vulnerable local populations and later expanding our work to respond to the needs of the population affected by the war. International Medical Corps currently operates two primary healthcare clinics and six mobile medical teams in Syria, providing vital primary healthcare services to Syrian women, children and men, including prevention and treatment of communicable and non-communicable diseases, maternal and child healthcare, reproductive health services, and individual and group health education sessions. We also support people who need advanced care by referring them to contracted private service providers, such as specialists and hospitals. Following the earthquake, IMC expanded its services to cover Aleppo, Lattakia and Tartous governorates, direly affected by the earthquake aftermath.
IMC provides integrated MHPSS services within its supported PHC clinics and MMTs, utilizing the mental health case management approach to provide a holistic model of service delivery.
IMC also integrates MHPSS services in a Recreational Activity Center (RAC) in Jaramana, a Women and Girls Safe Space (WGSS) and a community center in Beit Sahem, and operates through a mobile team deployed in the Eastern Ghouta area. The RAC and the community center offer a wide range of Psychosocial Support (PSS) CP activities, while the WGSS offers structured and non-structured PSS and GBV services to women and girls. Following to the devastating earthquake in Feb 2023, IMC prepared to open a Family Centre in Hama as one of the most affected governorates, to provide a range of activities that target all family members with special focus to Persons with Disabilities.

PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
As part of its MHPSS and Protection programs, IMC seeks a consultant who is a specialist in inclusion and rehabilitation to provide a specific training for the staff delivering the inclusion and rehabilitation services in line with the international guidelines.

SCOPE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
Provide a specific training to staff members who will be implementing the “Inclusion and Rehabilitation Program”.
Please note this position is based on the needs of the project and the team, with an expected approximate engagement between 15 and 30 days per year (training and technical supervision).

DELIVERABLES DESCRIPTION

  • Review and help develop and/or contextualize training material with a psychosocial and mental health perspectives;
  • Ensure integrated approach (Mental Health and protection) to trainings and training activities through working closely with other program trainers, as well as other program staff and consultants;
  • Deliver contextualized lessons/assistance in psychosocial care including risk management, gender equity and social inclusion guidance;
  • Support the program staff with specialized technical support in Gender and Social Inclusion;
  • Provide technical supervision sessions to the inclusion and rehabilitation team to ensure implementation of the curriculum is done according to the standards of service delivery.

CONSULTANT SPECIFICATIONS

  • BA or Masters, PsyD in Psychology, special education required.
  • Minimum 4 – 5 years’ experience conducting training, specifically training individuals to deal with persons and children with disability, working in the Human Rights field and in sensitive contexts.
  • Strong understanding of principles behind psychosocial first-aid, psychosocial interventions, and trauma.
  • Demonstrated expertise in areas such as training programming, and curriculum development, Inclusion and rehabilitation Programs in particular.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Gender and social inclusion integration/experience with gender and social inclusion sensitive trainings.
  • Valid passport and travel permissions required, for potential international travel.
  • Experience of working constructively as part of a small team.

Mandatory: To propose a (brief) training modality for a holistic training approach in “Inclusion and Rehabilitation”, explains how the training will benefit IMC and supports its objectives. In addition to detailing the steps, needed duration (number of days needed for the training and supervision sessions), training materials and any other expected outcome and relevant information.
