Terms of Reference for Content Gathering Consultant
- Background
Habitat for Humanity Kenya (HFH Kenya) is a national non-profit organization that begun its operations in 1982 as an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. The affiliation is guided by a National Affiliation Agreement (NAA) and a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). HFH Kenya’s overall vision is: “A nation where every family has a decent place to live.” Mission: “Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity Kenya brings people together to build homes, communities and hope”.
HFH Kenya seeks a skilled Content Gathering Consultant to document this project, capturing the impact and stories of the beneficiaries to effectively communicate our mission and achievements to stakeholders and the wider public.
2. Objective
The objective of this consultancy is to gather high-quality content that highlights the impact of HFH Kenya’s Foster Foundation project on partner families and communities. The consultant will produce a range of materials including photographs, an impact documentary, short social media clips, interviews, and other relevant content.
3. Scope of Work
The Content Gathering Consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:
A. Project Photos
- Capture high-resolution images (150) of the housing construction, borehole projects, and youth digital literacy program.
- Photograph beneficiaries, project sites, and key events.
B. Impact Documentary
- Produce a 15–20-minute documentary showcasing the impact of HFH Kenya’s projects.
- Include interviews with beneficiaries, project staff, and community leaders.
C. Short Social Media Clips.
- Create 10-15 short (1-3 minute) video clips suitable for social media platforms.
- Clips should highlight specific aspects of the projects, beneficiary stories, and key milestones.
D. Interviews
- Conduct and record in-depth interviews with project beneficiaries, HFH Kenya staff, and key stakeholders.
- Transcribe interviews for use in written content and reports.
E. Additional Content
- Produce any other content as required, such as blog posts, case studies, and infographics.
4. Deliverables
The consultant will deliver the following:
A. Photographs (150 at least)
- High-resolution digital photos in JPEG and RAW formats.
- Edited and captioned images for use in reports, social media, and promotional materials.
B. Impact Documentary
- Final documentary in Full HD (1080p) and 4K resolution formats.
- Raw footage and a final edited version with subtitles and narration.
C. Short Social Media Clips
- Edited video clips in MP4 format optimized for social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn).
- Thumbnail images and descriptions for each clip.
D. Interviews
- Video and audio recordings of interviews in MP4 and MP3 formats, respectively.
- Transcripts of interviews in Word and PDF formats.
E. Additional Content
- Blog posts, case studies, and infographics in Word and PDF formats.
- Any other content as requested by HFH Kenya.
5. Consultant Qualifications
- Proven experience in content creation, photography, videography, and documentary production.
- Strong storytelling skills with the ability to capture and convey impactful stories.
- Proficiency in editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Lightroom, and Photoshop.
- Experience working with non-profits or in the development sector is an added advantage.

The consultancy will be conducted over a period of 1 month,
7. Reporting and Coordination
The consultant will report to and work closely with the Communications Officer of HFH Kenya. Regular progress updates and review meetings will be scheduled to ensure alignment with project objectives.
