Acted Chad

Acted has been working in Chad since November 2004 and in the Lake since 2011, where it has been conducting emergency and resilience interventions with refugee, displaced, returned and vulnerable host populations.

Acted Chad has more than 130 employees and manages its operations from its national coordination base in N’Djamena.

With a regional coordination base in Bol and a sub-base in Daboua,’Acted programmes are currently taking place in the departments of Mamdi, Fouli and Kaya, in the Lake Chad Province. The’Acted strategy combines an emergency’ response within the consortium of rapid response mechanism (RRM) through food assistance (food/cash and non-food distribution programmes, nutrition) and shelter; and support for early recovery through programmes to combat malnutrition and multisectoral approaches in Water, Hygiene and Sanitation (EHA) emergency education (EiE), disaster risk reduction (DRR) and strengthening the means of’s existence.

Main role and responsibilities

The area coordinator represents Acted in relation to local authorities, donors, beneficiary populations and other key actors.

The coordinator is a member of the’ management team, he/she guarantees the quality of the program and its operational implementation, as well as its deployment where it’ is appropriate and feasible, he/she ensures a strong representative role. The coordinator directly supervises the project managers by checking that the projects and programs are adapted to the needs of the beneficiaries and that’s are implemented in accordance with the global strategy of’Acted , with the orientations of the lessor. Once work plans and budgets are validated, the zone coordinator also oversees day-to-day operations and safety in the area concerned.

Qualifications and skills required

  • Training in international development,’urgency operations, humanitarian programs etc. ;
  • In-depth experience in project management in the field of’urgency and/or development programs ;
  • Basic management skills are preferable (HR, finance, logistics) ;
  • At least four years of relevant professional experience, preferably including the management of safety ;
  • Proven leadership and team management capabilities’ required ;
  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills, and flexibility;

Conditions

  • Salary defined by the Acted salary grid according to the level of’studies, the’expertise, the level of security and the level of experience : between 3000 and 3100 € monthly net (before income taxes)
  • Monthly living expenses allowance 300$
  • Guesthouse accommodation and food supported by Acted
  • Social security, mutual insurance (MSH) and repatriation assistance (SOS International) supported by Acted
  • Transport to the mission and return ticket fully supported every 6 months (to the’address specified on the employment contract)
  • Visa fees supported by Acted
  • R&R every 3 months (aircraft ticket’ supported up to’ 500$ + additional allowance of 200$)
  • One week of preparation for departure including 4 days of immersion safety training
  • Possibility of’having a call of 30 minutes with a consultant in taxation
  • Psychological support (meet with a professional.le)
