As the Capacity Building Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing the Capacity Building Unit, with a focus on the effective implementation of initiatives designed to develop and strengthen the capacities of local grassroots and established organizations operating in Syria. This role involves leading the design, development, and execution of comprehensive training programs, overseeing team performance, and collaborating with external experts to enhance the overall capacity of the NGO’s partner organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

Unit Management and Direction:

  • Oversee the daily operations and strategic direction of the capacity building unit.
  • Ensure the unit’s activities are aligned with the NGO’s overall mission and strategic goals.

Project Design and Proposal Development:

  • Actively participate in the conceptualization and design of projects.
  • Contribute to the development of proposals for capacity building projects and initiatives.

Representation in Selection Committees:

  • Represent the capacity building unit in selection committees for grants and contracts.
  • Evaluate and select proposals in collaboration with other departments.

Training Plans:

  • Develop comprehensive training plans tailored to the needs of local grassroots and established organizations.
  • Ensure training plans are relevant to the context and needs of the beneficiaries.

Training Material Development:

  • Oversee the creation, development, and production of training materials.
  • Ensure training materials are up-to-date, culturally appropriate, and context specific.

Contracting and Engagement with Experts:

  • Identify, contract, and coordinate with external experts to deliver specialized training sessions.
  • Ensure all contractual agreements with external experts are managed efficiently.

Staff Evaluation:

  • Supervise and conduct periodic evaluations of the unit staff.
  • Provide constructive feedback and development plans for improvement.

Trainer Development:

  • Prepare and implement development plans for trainers within the team.
  • Ensure trainers have access to professional development opportunities.

Qualifications We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in organizational development, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in managing and working within civil society organizations.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in training and facilitation, preferably in conflict environments.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in designing and implementing capacity development plans/projects
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare project proposals and develop capacity development plans.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Syrian context and experience working in conflict environments.
  • Proficiency in report writing and documentation.
  • Fluent in Arabic and English, both spoken and written.
  • Proven experience in managing teams, including remote management.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
