Business Systems Analyst (LTTA) – Nairobi At DAI Global


BACKGROUND

The USAID Africa Trade and Investment (ATI) Activity is designed to bolster the U.S. Government’s ability to boost trade and investment to, from, and within the African continent. The continent-wide program is USAID’s flagship effort in support of the Prosper Africa initiative and will expand and accelerate two-way trade and investment between African nations and the United States.

ATI is designed as a small, core set of centrally coordinated technical and institutional support activities, and a large, flexible performance-based subcontracting and grants under contract facility designed to support the needs and opportunities that USAID Missions and the private sector identify.

OVERVIEW OF JOB DESCRIPTION

The Business Systems Analyst will ensure that all internal management information systems project is utilized and reflect both company-wide and individual project requirements. This position requires understanding the fundamentals of project management including all aspects of technical implementation as well as the administrative regulations required by the Award.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with other business analysts, business users, Product Owners, IT Technical Leads, and IT Technical subject matter experts on gathering requirements, developing process workflows, and defining user stories.
  • Assists ATI’s Systems Team and DAI Technology team in aligning ATI’s user stories to dependencies and the pre-defined portfolios and projects.
  • Document requirements and coordinate with DAI’s systems programming staff.
  • Test design and functionality prior to project-wide launch.
  • Collaborate with project staff to ensure completeness of information and documentation in systems.
  • Provide day to day remote assistance and support to project staff.
  • Identify training needs and expand upon existing computer-based training and written instructions on system/software to meet the established needs.
  • Draft user guides for new system features and ensure that the guides are complete and correct.
  • Collaborate with field teams to ensure completeness of information and documentation created.
  • Manage, review, and analyze data related to project activities documented in all systems in an effort to improve overall system functionality, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Ensure the systems reflect needed process controls for both technical and administrative functions including approvals, technical assistance management, procurement management, and monitoring and evaluation data management, etc.
  • Serves as Project Manager for specific systems activities, keeping team on track to complete stories in timely manner and resolve conflicts and blockages.
  • Serves as team member who is also assigned user stories, completing them on time and with consistent high quality. Communicates proactively when stories are behind schedule or blocked and works proactively with team to resolve issues.
  • Gathers feedback from business users during Demo sessions and User Acceptance Training.
  • Helps in the organization and execution of User Acceptance Training.
  • Participates in refinement sessions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts Degree in and 7+ years of experience in related position.
  • Familiarity with data integration and migration techniques and tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Proficiency in report development using various tools and platforms.
  • Experience working with international NGOs or donors, such as USAID-funded projects (preferred).
  • Experience in business analysis, including gathering business requirements, writing corresponding user stories, and presenting them clearly to technology teams.

Reporting

The Business Systems Analyst reports to the DC Portfolio Lead or Designee on the ATI project.
