About RECOR:

Renewal Eco-Recyclers (RECOR) Ltd/Gte. is a social enterprise committed to sustainable plastic waste recycling in Yola South, Adamawa State, Nigeria. Our mission is to promote environmental sustainability while empowering the local community to earn income through a circular economy. RECOR Ltd./Gte., collects and recycles waste plastic into plastic bales, flakes, and pellets, which are secondary raw materials for producing other finished plastic products. With an installed processing capacity of over 40 tons of plastics monthly.

Location: Remote/Hybrid/Yola, Nigeria (Candidates can be based anywhere, but must be comfortable using digital tools for virtual meetings)

TypeProfessional Pro bono/not a paid role. (Requiring about 10 hours/week, and will only be reimbursed for expenses incurred while carrying pre-approved work on behalf of RECOR)

Role Overview:

We are seeking two dynamic and experienced individuals to join our Board of Trustees. The ideal candidates will possess a strong background in either of the following: business management, or marketing and sales. The Board will oversee the management of RECOR, recruit the management team, and support the growth and profitability of our social enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Oversight: Provide guidance and oversight for the strategic direction of RECOR, ensuring alignment with our mission and goals.
  • Management Recruitment: Assist in the recruitment of the management team, including the Business Manager and other key positions.
  • Capacity Building: Willing to schedule time for capacity building in operations management, marketing, and sales.
  • Financial Stewardship: Oversee financial performance, ensuring effective financial management and sustainability of the organization.
  • Active Engagement: Participate in board meetings, discussions, and decision-making processes, contributing expertise and insights.
  • Mentorship: Provide mentorship and support to the management team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Addition Enterprise Promotion: boosts market penetration by the social enterprise through links with similar businesses, networks, and circles, including political.
  • Be an advocate and ambassador for the RECOR hub, help introduce business connections to the hub, and promote the work of the hub in public spaces.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in either business management, or marketing and sales.
  • Strong understanding of the principles of business sustainability and social enterprise.
  • Active engagement in current business practices; candidates should not be retirees.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a remote setting.
  • Proficiency in digital tools and platforms for effective decision-making and communication.
