WHAT WE DO

SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an association of’international humanitarian aid which, for more than 40 years, has been

assistance to populations affected by armed conflict and natural disasters by meeting vital needs, drinking, eating, sheltering. Particularly engaged in the fight against diseases related to unhealthy’, the leading cause of death in the world, SI implements through its interventions an expertise in the field of’access to drinking’water,’sanitation and the promotion of hygiene but also in that, essential, food security and means of’. Present in about twenty countries, SI – 2000 teams in total composed of’expatriates, national staffs, permanent staff at headquarters, some volunteers…intervene with professionalism and commitment in respect of cultures.

THE MISSION

  • L’assistant.e Carbon and environmental footprint works within the headquarters of Solidarities International (in Paris), under the supervision of the Technical Reference Environment and Climate, in collaboration with’ all SI departments and’ all offices in the countries of intervention (Africa, Middle East, Asia, Latin America, Europe).
  • He/she will mainly contribute to the calculation of the’ carbon footprint of’at least one of the countries of intervention of Solidarities International.
  • He/she will ensure the capitalization of past/current/future initiatives of the’organization, in favor of the reduction of the IS carbon footprint.

OFFER DESCRIPTION

The missions detailed below are likely to evolve according to the operational needs of Solidarities International, and will be adapted as much as possible to the interests and technical expertise of the’assistant.e Carbon and environmental footprint.

Until November 2024, the’assistant.e Carbon and environmental footprint, will also receive the’ technical support from an external consulting firm (Wavestone).

  • Support for the finalization of the calculation of the’ carbon footprint of the offices and activities of Solidarity International in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) :
    • Follow-up of the’advancement of data collection by focal points in DRC
    • Technical support to the teams involved
    • Review of the validity of the data collected
  • Capitalization on the methodology deployed in DRC :
    • Review of the relevance of the’ identification of focal points for the collection of data
    • Collecting feedback from focal points on the’use of the’carbon footprint calculation tool (blocks, limits, possible technical difficulties)
    • Analysis of the time taken to calculate the’ carbon footprint in order to define typical forecast schedules for the other countries of intervention of Solidarities International
  • Support for the formulation of technical feedback to Global Climate Initiatives (GCI) following the use of their’ carbon footprint calculation tool by the teams present in the DRC
  • Research of’information and capitalization on the other tools and calculation methodology available and those most suitable for humanitarian NGOs.
  • Participation in the’ development of the roadmap for the reduction of the’ carbon footprint of Solidarity International :
  • According to Solidarities International’s global carbon balance planning, support for the launch of the’ calculation exercise with’un or several other intervention countries (to be confirmed).
  • Participation in reflections for the development of the consideration of the environmental footprint of humanitarian activities (documentary research on possible methodologies).
  • At the request of the Technical Reference Environment and Climate, participation in inter-NGO meetings on the topics of’s carbon and environmental footprint, ensure the taking of notes and the internal dissemination of key elements.
  • Write a final report of end of stage of inventory and recommendations.

PROFILE

  • In training level Bac +4/5 – environmental course, sustainable development, natural risks, renewable energies, etc,…
  • Ability of’analysis and’organization, priority management.
  • Essential mastery of’informatique (Pack Office).
  • A specialization in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) would be an asset
  • Current mastery of French, good level of’anglais (read and written).

CONDITIONS

six (06) month internship based in Clichy la Garenne (92)

– Gratification up to 3,90€/hour

– Tickets Restaurants (60%) supported by the’association and transport supported at 50%
