Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK) is a national faith-based organization of the Protestant Churches, health institutions and programs from all counties of Kenya providing quality health care since 1946 through building of health systems, partnerships, and community empowerment.
CHAK is looking to hire an Assistant Accountant on a fixed term contract for 3 years. The assistant accountant will support CHAK in financial and record keeping processes. The role holder is expected to undertake payment processing, record keeping and providing support to the senior accountant. This contract is non-renewable and is subject to availability of funds.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare payments, ensure timely approval and proper allocation of project expenses
- Prepare Mpesa disbursements and ensure proper reconciliation and replenishment
- Support travel arrangements through processing travel advances and expenses.
- Preparation & Input of journal entries in the system
- Ensure timely remittance of PAYE, WHT, NITA,HELB and VAT.
- Ensure remittance of statutory payment schedules are issued to service providers
- Support internal and external audits
- Reconcile supplier statements with the supplier ledger on a timely basis
- Printing and filing of payment vouchers
- Any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
Qualifications and requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or related disciplines
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent current certification required
- 2 years of experience in a busy finance office
- Knowledge of financial software applications. Knowledge in Nav 365 will be an added advantage
- Fluency in spoken and written English
