Mission and objectives

UN Women, is the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, It has been present in Bolivia since 2010 with the mandate to contribute to the implementation of all the human rights commitments of women assumed and ratified by the Plurinational State of Bolivia.

Context

As of November 2019, UN Women is part of the Initiative for the Consolidation of Peace in Bolivia and of the commitment of the United Nations System to overcome the political and social crisis that the country faced. This initiative provided an opportunity to deepen the application of the gender perspective in conflict prevention and overcoming efforts in Bolivia through dialogue, particularly in the areas of the country most affected by violence where indigenous, Afro-Bolivian, migrant and human mobility girls and women are the most affected. In this context, UN Women Bolivia deepens its actions for the effective inclusion and exercise of the fundamental and civil rights of migrant women, women in situations of human mobility and women in contexts of crisis and conflict;especially those of indigenous, Afro-Bolivian and disabled origin. This approach is a central part of the Governance and Political Participation Area of UN Women Bolivia, especially the work carried out in recent years in the field of Peace and Security, that incorporates the gender perspective in monitoring the human rights of girls and women in conflict contexts marked by electoral and political events. In this framework, UN Women Bolivia identifies the need for the support of a national expert volunteer who contributes technically and programmatically to the Office of the Country in Development, implementation and monitoring of actions related to migration, human mobility, crises and humanitarian actions in the country.
