Why work with us ?

In Senegal, the World Food Program ( WFP ) works to strengthen the resilience of rural communities to climate change and to enable small farmers – women in particular – to earn a living on their land. WFP targets the poorest regions, integrating its activities to build resilience, with its flagship local school feeding program which serves as the main entry point for a series of nutrition programs, disaster risk reduction and local supply implemented in the same localities to maximize the impact of the intervention.

As part of the process for implementing the new Country Strategic Plan ( PSP ) 2019- 2023, the WFP Country Office in Senegal intends to open an office at the Matam region to strengthen these food assistance activities. This approach, beyond bringing it closer to its beneficiaries, remains in line with the fundamentals of the PSP, which consists on the one hand of « targeting the poorest regions », while encouraging « synergy development » between the various WFP projects and programs ( concentration ) on the other hand.

Through this approach, WFP intends to « effectively assist the government of Senegal in setting up sustainable safety nets and social protection programs » in order to better cope with shocks, through a policy of strengthening the resilience of grassroots households.
