Organisational Setting and ReportingThe United Nations Information Centers (UNICs) belong to the Information Centres Services (ICS), Campaigns and Country Operations Division (CCOD) of the Department of Global Communications (DGC) invites you to be part of an internship Programme during the year 2023. The internship position is offered by telecommuting at the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Asuncion City. The incumbent is under the direct supervision of the National Information Officer (NIO). He or she reports to the NIO of UNIC Asuncion. The internship is UNPAID. The Interns must cover full time working hours, for a minimum of 2 months and maximum of 6 months (Monday to Friday from 9:30-14:30; 35 hours per week). Part-time schedules could be arranged depending on UNIC Asuncion’s requirements, for example; Monday to Friday from 9:30-13:30 or Monday to Friday from 13:30-17:30, applies only for a 6 months period.
Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the NIO of UNIC Asuncion, the daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background. Duties may include, but are not limited to: ^ Provide general office support; respond to complex information requests and inquiries of UNIC Asuncion; draft media and other communication documents; ^ Assist UNIC Asuncion in the production and delivery of information communications products and services; ^ Assist in the updates and further development of internal databases; update UNIC Asuncion’s web site and social media accounts to include drafting and editing content; ^ Assist in the researching and compiling of basic information for use in the preparation and production of communications products/services about the UN; ^ Assist with UNIC Asuncion photographic material; by producing digital imaging; write captions for UN photos, when required; ^ Assist in the production and editing of UNIC Asuncion video/film projects, radio program or website projects; produce scripts, cue cards, etc., select and catalogue sound and visual materials for inclusion in UN productions; ^ Assist in development and final production of social media products, as well as enrich potential online initiatives to audiences to raise awareness of the UN work; ^ Performs other duties as assigned.

EducationTo qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met: ^ Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) in journalism, communication, multimedia and social networks, graphic design, computer sciences or related field; or (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent) in journalism, communication, multimedia and social networks, graphic design, computer sciences or related field. ^ Be computer literate in standard software applications; ^ Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter. ^ Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Work ExperienceNo working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
LanguagesEnglish and French are working languages of the UN Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English and Spanish is required.
