LSO introduction:
The Gaza Logistics Special Operations (LSO) unit has been formed to engage in any activity that could resemble the long time forgotten logistics special operations. The mandate of the LSO unit integrates fleet management, fuel management, special infrastructures design, implementation & when required, forward logistics assessments & special deliveries.
The LSO unit will operate in conjunction with our clients logistics food operations (food deliveries, supply to program plans, food accounting, warehousing, contracting, etc.) & will leverage their logistics assets & other means of operations.
Background elements to the LSO:
Given the complexity of the logistics operation in Gaza & to ensure timely delivery, logistics has streamlined its activities through the LSO unit. The aim of the LSO unit is to provide integrated solutions to achieve critical operational success by augmenting the logistics delivery capacity through non conventional transport modalities & innovative solutions i.e., armoured vehicles & our clients Fleet. The LSO unit will coordinate & constantly plan response actions with operations team / partners & other concerned stockholders & act as a reserve capacity for complex or time critical operational requirements. For any complex response, the LSO unit will evaluate the urgency of the operational requirement, potential financial impact, safety & security concerns.
In addition, the LSO unit will continue to ensure supply chain cost optimization by undertaking initiatives including the rehabilitation, design & / or implementation of infrastructures & if needed, the opening of additional supply routes; upgrade & improvement of infrastructures, their access & carry out assessments to identify solutions to logistical challenges.
Logistics fleet augmentations are expected in the following areas:
Lays out & supervises the our clients fleet trucks in assigned location.
Supervise the maintenance activity & confirm the work orders are correct.
Confirm the quality of repairs & inspect the replacement of parts.
Monitor the spare parts stock levels & control the utilization of spare parts.
Getting approvals from Fleet Manager, regular reporting & keep records.
Role objectives:
Under the direct supervision of the Fleet Manager, the selected candidate shall be responsible to lay out, supervise & assist with the maintenance activities at the service providers workshop & feeding the Fleet Manager with information for further approval. Oversees the asset management, follows up on the maintenance schedule, monitoring & controls spare parts utilization, conducting regular asset & spare parts inventory & report to the Fleet Manager daily & monthly basis. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
To take responsibility for the provision of an efficient & effective workshop management according to maintenance, repairs standard & the organization policy & provide technical support & guidance to the Technicians in the workshop.
Excellent in troubleshooting & repair skills in mechanical & electrical system to give guidance & supervise the repairs.
Inspects quality of work in connection with major repairs to automotive equipment including major engine overhauls, tune ups, relining & adjusting of brakes, wheel aligning, transmission, gear box & differential replacement & repair, electrical replacement, repair & minor body repair etc.
Make sure always all safety precautions are followed during repairs & lifting rams / vehicles.
Ensure the workshop personnel are maintained the workshop in a clean, safe & tidy condition.
Establish & implement effective housekeeping & workshop management systems.
Supervise & control the maintenance activities in service provider / transporters workshop.
To ensure the efficient & effective use of staff, workshop facilities, equipment & evaluate the Workshop Mechanic capacity to train & upgrade their skills or to be replaced by qualified Mechanics.
Make sure work orders has been opened to any maintenance work prior any repair works.
Any maintenance activity is allowed only after proper inspection & with the Fleet Manager’s approval.
Inspect the vehicle repair request & confirm if the request is correct & needs to be approved by the Fleet Manager.
Carry out workshop activities, service & repair all fleet trucks in a safe, efficient & economical manner as required by the Fleet Manager & the organization.
Diagnose the malfunctioning components, engines, steering systems, clutch systems, brake systems, electrical, suspension, deferential, replace worn out parts & fluids prior sending parts request for approval.
Perform final inspection to make sure all issued items are installed & repairs are one as per the request.
Tyres & batteries shall be registered their serial numbers prior to any replacement action & need to confirm if the tyres & batteries fitted in the truck are our clients tyres & batteries.
Ensure that all relevant safety procedures are followed during lifting, repairs & replacement parts done properly.
Capture all description & quantity of issued spare parts, lubricants, batteries & tires in the established form for reporting & records.
Submit work orders to FMS Data Clerk with required data on timely basis for tracking purposes.
To conduct test drives & confirm functionality.
To provide guidance on recovery & maintain broken down trucks during field missions on using proper technique to minimize the risk of additional damage & accident.
Undertake statutory training as may be required & product training by consultation.
Provide assessment reports for grounded vehicles with technical recommendations.
Keeping detailed records of serviced trucks, reporting progress & issues to the fleet management.
The Heavy Duty Mechanic has a wide range of responsibilities that extend beyond simple maintenance tasks. These include:
Diagnosing faults or malfunctions using computerized & other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required.
Adjusting equipment & replacing faulty parts to ensure equipment functionality & safety.
Provision of guidance on routine maintenance checks on machinery to thwart potential failures & guarantee smooth operations.
Providing full support in interpreting technical manuals & drawings to execute repairs & enhancements.
Collaborating with other mechanics & management to maintain the fleet truck schedules & ensure compliance with all safety regulations.
Testing repaired trucks / machinery to verify successful restoration & adherence to performance & safety standards.
Project reporting:
This role will work under the direct supervision of the Fleet Manager.
Key competencies:
Advance automotive diploma / technical & vocational certificate, diploma in mechanical / electrical engineering or related fields.
Professional certifications in automotive truck / machinery maintenance are highly regarded.
Hands on experience in heavy trucks & equipment maintenance, typically gained through apprenticeships or previous job roles, is crucial.
Strong understanding of electronic, hydraulic & pneumatic systems is often necessary for advanced repair tasks.
Continuous education & training to keep up with advancements in heavy trucks & machinery technology & repair techniques.
Good in computer, Microsoft Windows, communication skills & reporting skills.
Good in diagnosing technical problems, decision making.
