Overview of position
Under the overall guidance of the MPA Program Manager & the direct supervision of the MPA National Program Officer & in coordination with the MPA program team in Hargeisa, the successful candidate will assist in supporting & contributing to MPA program activities in Somaliland.
Role objectives
Tasks will include but not limited to:
- Assist the MPA team with daily administrative tasks & proper documentation related to all activities associated with the implementation of all MPA projects in Somaliland.
- Collect supporting documents to process procurement & finance related tasks in a timely manner, following up with the team & across departments where necessary.
- Assist case management teams in administering pocket money prior to departure, reception assistance & processing payments.
- Follow up with procurement over reintegration grants for migrants & returnees in accordance with internal established processes & procedures.
- Provide logistical & administration support for the organization of workshops, training & other events.
- Maintain proper organization of the MPA shared project folder in coordination with program staff.
- Follow up with MPA staff to submit necessary information, photos & consent photo forms for project communication & visibility activities carried out under MPA project activities in Somaliland.
- If required, support in undertaking frequent field mentoring & on site monitoring visits to support MPA program implementations.
- Perform other required duties assigned by the direct supervisor, MPA Program Officer / Manager.
Training components & learning elements:
- The Intern will gain on site experience in working in an international multicultural environment, within the United Nations (UN) system.
- The Intern will better understand our clients work as an intergovernmental organization in the field of migration & sustainable development, including cooperation with government partners & UN agencies.
- The Intern will acquire technical knowledge in reporting, development of diverse communications products & environmental & community stabilization based programming.
- The Intern will be able to access relevant online training courses at the disposal of all our clients staff.
- The Intern will interact with multi stakeholder constituents, internal & external partners involved in organizing and implementing capacity building communications & knowledge sharing activities.
Project reporting
- This role will work under the overall guidance of the MPA Program Manager & the direct supervision of the MPA National Program Officer & in coordination with the MPA program team in Hargeisa.
Key competencies
- University degree or / & master’s degree in development studies, business administration, international relations, law or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
- Experience in program implementation & reporting.
- Experience in writing & editing information materials & reports.
- Experience in operational activities both in the humanitarian & development sector.
- Work experience in the region is an advantage.
- General knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Office suite (ex. Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams, etc.).
- Digital literacy & demonstrated knowledge of information technology in Adobe Creative Cloud: InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop is an advantage.
- Fluency in English & Somali (oral & written) is required for this position.
