E-Learning Content Developer At Seefar

Summary

Seefar is seeking an experienced E-Learning Content Developer to design 4 self-paced online and interactive modules for an e-learning platform for potential Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) migrants, employers in the EU, and migration facilitators in Nigeria who support labour mobility. The E-Learning Content Developer will lead on the design of the curriculum and online courses in coordination with the Web Developer and Graphic Designer, and supervise the overall development of the curriculum and training.

Contract duration: An estimated start date of 1 December 2024

Salary: This is a deliverable based contract. We estimate the fee range for each module to be between 2000-2500 EUR. Fees will be paid upon completion of each milestone. Based on performance and outputs there is a possibility of an extension.

Project duration: The project ends in December 2026

Job Description

Seefar is developing a curriculum tailored to making potential STEM migrants from Nigeria job ready and equipping them with technical and soft skills to navigate employment opportunities in host countries. Other stakeholders such as employers, job placement agencies and visa/travel agencies will also be provided with online training. Some examples of trainings include:

  • Cultural sensitivity training to understand and navigate the cultural nuances of their host countries including communication styles, workplace etiquette, and social norms to ensure smooth integration and effective interaction with colleagues and clients.
  • Ethical recruitment principles and standards to ensure fair and transparent employment practices. Topics will include non-discrimination, equal opportunity employment and labour rights in host countries.
  • Trainings to equip employers with the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to navigate the complexities of hiring and integrating skilled migrants into their organisations.

Responsibilities

The following are the primary responsibilities of the role:

  1. Develop the online curriculum for the e-learning platform in close coordination with the Web Developer and Strategic Communications Team.
  2. Design detailed training modules for the e-learning platform targeted at potential STEM migrants, employers in the EU and migration facilitators in Nigeria.
  3. Adapt learning and written content from Seefar’s existing material, and develop new content where necessary to complement already existing content for courses.
  4. Support a graphic designer to transform training material into interactive modules using features such as videos, graphics, games, quizzes, webinars, and other multimedia elements.
  5. Review and test the course content to ensure it meets the needs of the target audience, and provide key recommendations to improve and adjust the curriculum accordingly.
  6. Contribute to specifications for the design of the online course for the technical developer.
  7. Ensure the online course includes a mechanism to chart progress and an overall assessment at the end of each module in line with project reporting requirements.
  8. Provide technical advice on all features and specifications for the e-learning platform.

An Excellent Candidate

This role requires someone who has the skills, knowledge and experience listed under the “Essential criteria” heading below. A strong candidate will also meet one or more of the “Desirable criteria”.

Essential criteria

  • At least 4 years of relevant professional experience in curriculum design and content development of online courses, ideally in the field of labour migration, labour mobility and ethical recruitment.
  • Experience of, or exposure to, creating interactive and multimedia online courses which increase participation and retention rates, and result in behaviour change and awareness.
  • Experience of working with a graphic designer to create interactive features such as games, badges, quizzes, and videos.
  • Excellent ability to write and simplify complex content into accessible and engaging modules which can be translated into multiple languages.
  • Experience of using analytics to track progress and engagement, and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
  • Experience with supervising and overseeing app development or a web based platform.
  • Knowledge of e-learning platforms and learning management systems such as Moodle.
  • Motivated and able to work independently and remotely.
  • Effective prioritisation skills and high level of autonomy.
  • High patience and cultural-sensitivity.
  • Outstanding attention to detail.
  • Fluency in speaking and writing in English.

Desirable criteria

  • Additional languages (German and French) are desirable.
  • Knowledge of topics related to labour mobility and ethical recruitment.
  • Experience of teaching processes in a virtual environment.
  • Experience of gamification techniques to make courses more interactive.
