SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association that, for over 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their vital needs: drinking, eating, shelter. Particularly committed to the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI implements through its interventions expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and the promotion of hygiene, but also in the essential field of food security and livelihoods. Present in 26 countries, SI teams – 3,200 people in total made up of expatriates, national employees, permanent staff at headquarters, a few volunteers, etc. – intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.

The mission

Since March 2020, SI has been working in France to address the challenges of water, hygiene and sanitation insecurity in five territories. In partnership with the Water and Sanitation operators of metropolitan areas and their Foundations, its projects target people living in degraded sites such as shanty towns or squats and who have limited access to basic services, in terms of drinking water, sanitation, and access to essential hygiene products. SI’s strategy consists of supporting local stakeholders in their search for concrete solutions, by proposing to improve the sanitary conditions of the sites, in particular through the installation of drinking water supplies, sanitation infrastructure and by developing pilot projects adapted to the context of each intervention area.

General objective:

Under the supervision of the Area Coordinator, the program manager is responsible for the installation and maintenance of the EHA infrastructures made available by SI.

He/she participates in technical diagnostics and the development of innovative projects to improve living conditions on precarious housing sites.

He/she is the guarantor of the proper execution and quality of the program implemented, and where appropriate, proposes adjustments or developments to ensure its relevance.

– Relevance, quality and design of projects.
– Implementation and operational monitoring.
– Capitalization.
– Human resources management.
– Reporting / communication / representation.
– Inventory management.

Main Challenges:

Field work; project management (development and reporting); Mobility in IDF, Lille and Nord Littoral; Interested in supporting associations on the North Littoral

Priorities for the first 2/3 months:

1. Direct implementation of EHA activities
2. Development or resumption of ongoing pilot projects
3. Technical support

Training: Water technician training / RPEHA Bioforce training or equivalent

Experience and technical skills:

Previous experience in the humanitarian sector and/or in an equivalent position would be an asset.

  • Technical knowledge related to EHA
  • Project management (monitoring indicators, planning activities, etc.)
  • Relational sense (link to partners, teams, audiences, etc.)
  • Writing skills
  • Autonomy

Languages: English and Romanian

A salaried position: Depending on experience, from EUR 2865 gross per month;
