Team Leader Technical Development and Innovation (Knowledge & Innovation) (m/f/d)

We are looking for you as Team Leader for Technical Development and Innovation (Knowledge & Innovation) (m/f/d) as soon as possible .

The position is anchored in the International Cooperation Department of the German Red Cross General Secretariat.

The employment is full-time (39 hours/week). The employment offer is initially limited to two years. Long-term employment is sought.

Your tasks:

  • Head of the “Professional Development and Innovation” team
  • Strategic focus of the team, with a visible and effective orientation towards thematic and technical support of the department’s humanitarian programs and projects
  • personnel and financial responsibility
  • Implementation of existing and identification of new innovative topics for the international cooperation of the German Red Cross
  • Addressing fundamental questions regarding the cooperation of the German Red Cross in new and identified priority topics
  • Representation and positioning of the area of ​​responsibility within the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and towards external partners
  • Participation in the strategic direction of international cooperation and responsibility for successful cross-team cooperation in the department
  • Responsibility for the successful continuation of Global Project Funding II (GPII) in cooperation with the Federal Foreign Office
  • Participation in the communication of the area of ​​responsibility to the media

We expect:

  • Completed studies with a focus relevant to the team’s tasks
  • Many years of experience in humanitarian aid and ideally in development cooperation
  • Relevant field experience
  • Very good knowledge and deep understanding of the tasks and organizational structures as well as the working methods of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
  • Very good knowledge of grant management from German and European donors
  • Confident mastery of relevant project management tools
  • Strong tolerance for uncertain and ambivalent contexts and decision-making situations
  • Leadership and management experience in an international context and in diverse teams
  • Fluent English skills, knowledge of other relevant languages ​​desirable
