Generalist Legal Intern/Social Law: Social law, Litigation (criminal & civil procedure), Criminal law, Business law M/F At Doctors Without Borders


Médecins Sans Frontières, an international humanitarian medical association created in 1971, provides medical assistance to populations whose lives are threatened: mainly in the event of armed conflicts, but also epidemics, pandemics, natural disasters or exclusion from care. The French section is present in around thirty countries.

The legal department is looking for a Generalist/Social Law Intern Lawyer: Social law, Litigation (criminal & civil procedure), Criminal law, Business law M/F.

The MSF Legal Department provides general/private legal advice and support to Médecins Sans Frontières teams both in the field and at headquarters.

The intern will work within the Legal Department Unit in charge of questions and responses to risks related to human resources deployed in the field and incidents that may concern them (security, accidents, fraud, labor law, etc.).

The main activities of the intern are, in support of humanitarian operations, and across the different jurisdictions where MSF activities are implemented:
(1) Analysis and preparation of files in response to requests from the fields of operation;

(2) Drafting of emails, notes, tools and guidelines intended for operational staff in the field;
(3) Drafting and correcting various documents in English and French;
(4) Management of disputes related to human resources in our countries of operation (risk analyses, negotiations, litigation);
(5) Management of litigation files in the field (social, criminal, civil liability and tort);
(6) Various legal research under different legislations.

Profile sought

Training: PPI EFB internship / Holder of a Master 2 in Law / Science Po Law School / Other equivalent profile. Experience in a law firm or company of at least 6 months.

Languages: Very good level of English (B2) and French (C2), particularly in writing (50% of work in English).

Skills and abilities: Editorial rigor, capacity for research, problematization, creativity and synthesis; interest in MSF’s humanitarian and associative activities; open-mindedness, responsiveness, adaptability and teamwork.

Status: 6-month full-time internship from January 6 to June 27, 2025, based in Paris, Jaurès metro station. Mandatory internship agreement.

Conditions: The amount of the gratuity is between €4.35 and €7.70 gross per hour depending on the level of studies, for internships longer than one month. A meal voucher is awarded per day worked, with a face value of €11 (60% covered by Médecins Sans Frontières). 2 days of paid rest per month (for internships longer than one month). 50% coverage of the public transport subscription (no coverage of train tickets for residents outside the Ile de France coming to work in Paris).
